Gazing out the window, Hermione's amber eyes shone bright, rivalling the stars that would light the great hall. Her mind was swirling, with fear, exhilaration and knowledge. Awaiting her was a journey, a brand new adventure, a chance of a lifetime.
Hermione always knew she was special, her school bully's knew, her parents knew, so it was no surprise to her when Professor Mcgonnagal had appeared at her house. Once Professor Mcgonnagal had explained everything, Hermione went on a rampage, searching for knowledge on every subject that would be presented to her. Hermione couldn't wait to prove herself, to make a difference. Two carriages away, two third year boys were scheming. Fred and George Weasley had already made a name for themselves at Hogwarts. The teachers were at their wits end, except Dumbledore, Dumbledore's eyes just twinkled with amusement and wisdom. The boys exchanged ideas and plots of pranks to pull, especially on their youngest brother, who was due to start Hogwarts this year. The boys were extremely mischievous, and were passionate about humour. Contray to popular belief though, The weasley twins were very intelligent, and thrived in many classes. They couldn't wait for the new year and what awaited them.
Back in Hermione's compartment, she was broken out of her thoughts by the sound of the door opening. A pudgy, short boy with watery eyes stumbled in. Concerned, Hermione asked if he was okay. The boy, who's name was Neville stuttered out that he had lost his toad. Hermione's eyes softened, and she offered to help. Neville's hole demeanor changed, he smiled wide at Hermione.she smiled back...
As the boys continued to plot in their compartments, the door swung open. There stood a pretty, young girl, with tanned skin, a wild mane of bushy brunette hair, and teeth that were too big for her lips. Fred and George exchanged looks before looking back at the girl, seeking an explanation.
"Have you seen a toad, my friend Neville has lost one," she chirped in an innocent, high pitched English voice.
"Im Hermione Granger by the way," she smiled at the floor, visibly anxious.
"I'm afraid not, sorry girl," Fred smirked. Hermione's head snapped up at that,
"My name is not girl it's Hermione or Granger to you" she retorted angrily.
Fred raised his hands in mock surrender, grinning cheekily. George watched the two with a knowing look on his face. Hermione just glared and stormed out of the compartment.
"Feisty," was all Fred said before drifting into a world of his own thoughts.Hermione began to ask around the other compartments. She finally approached the last door, inside was a small, skinny boy with glasses, beside him was a redheaded boy, both looked about her age. Like she had every other compartment, she asked them if they'd seen a toad. The boys both answered no. She then spiked up a conversation with the boy's, the boy woth the glasses seemed benevolent and sweet, although the ginger boy seemed rather rude and unmannerly. Then realisation dawned on her,
"Holy cricket, you're Harry Potter !" She cried, Harry nodded slowly. Hermione then introduced herself, Harry smiled. The red headed boy introduced himself as "Ron Weasley," her eyes narrowed as she noticed the similarities between him and the Twins. All she said was 'pleasure' before leaving the compartment.
