JENNIE'S POV

"Honey? Honey, wake up. Breakfast is ready," I heard my mom say in a slightly muffled voice as she nudged me awake. With my head under my pillow, I groaned in frustration, wanting to rest longer but I knew I had to get up. I rubbed my eyes and sat up. My mom placed her lips on the side of my head, greeting me good morning before she padded out of the room.

Since coming home, I had been staying in one of our house's guest bedrooms on the first floor because I was still incapable of climbing the stairs. The most I can do right now was walk around for a few minutes before exhausting myself.

It had been two weeks since I was discharged from the hospital and I was almost accustomed to the new routine, despite the longing I felt for Lisa. I needed to focus on recovering, so everything about my days were now scheduled to the dot. I had been undergoing cardiac rehabilitation at the facility three times a week. My medication had to be taken on time and my daily walks were a must to build up my physique, especially my stamina.

My mother had been with me the entire time, being my caretaker 24/7, which I was more than grateful for. She told me she let go of her position at our company to take care of me and even though I urged her not to, she insisted, saying that she wanted to make up for lost time. She also said that her earnings from her shares were more than enough to provide for us so there was no need for her to keep her position as CFO.

My father, however, had buried himself with work ever since he moved out of the house. Apparently, my mother asked him to leave when the doctor told us that I should avoid stress at all costs. She told him he needed to figure out what was important and to get his priorities straight, if he wanted to come back. I know it was a huge sacrifice on my mother's part, seeing as they loved each other deeply. I can sense she was hoping my father would come around and change his perspective.

Jisoo and Chaeyoung spent most afternoons after class visiting me at home. They often told me about the latest gossip from uni and they even told me how the dance troupe won second place at the competition. Every time we were together, I missed Lisa more and I knew they felt the same way, though they always tried to cheer me up because they read that heart transplant patients were more susceptible to anxiety and depression. It warmed my heart that their support was unwavering and every time they were here, they would help my mom in taking care of me.

Last week, we finally hired an investigator to help us track down Lisa but so far, we got nowhere. He told us that she didn't even inform the uni that she was dropping out. The investigator said that all the Lisa Manobans they found in Thailand did not fit our Lisa's description, which was disheartening to say the least. He even tried looking for her using the name Lalisa Bruschweiler but ever since she legally changed her name, her other name had been dormant.

The investigator asked if we knew anyone she was close to back in Thailand to help us narrow down the search and I told him about Bambam from the band, The Unknown Heroes. I asked him to help me get in contact with Bambam too, in case that guy knew where to find Lisa.

After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I went to the kitchen for breakfast. An assortment of food that I was allowed to eat was prepared by my mom and already spread out on the kitchen counter. I ate my breakfast and drank my medication, then my mom took note of my vitals and my weight as part of my daily routine. Afterwards, I got ready for my clinic day.

My mother accompanied me to the clinic for testing. According to my doctors, it would take months for me to fully regain my strength and stamina, which is why we brought my wheelchair with us. The long list of tests I had to go through and walking from one room to another every clinic day was strenuous for me. The waiting time was just as long and tiring as the procedures themselves so having my mom wheel me around was really advantageous. It took almost the entire day before we were released and I was exhausted. As soon as we got home, we ate dinner and I did my new nightly routine before heading to bed.
