CHANGE - A DISTANT PURSUIT
To think that even the slightest movement
could trigger an old memory
you thought had faded away.
Instead it wandered astray
away into the shadows,
opening up into the light
when your heart becomes hollow— at a lost of how the world
perceives your feelings, so shallow.And so as the rain
pattered against the plane
the glass windows encasing my heart
ever so transparent to be torn apart.The chill seeps in
carried by the wind
gentle, yet so mesmerising,
vanishing quickly like the sun's rising.I look up to the ceiling
a canopy of darkness above
recalling when I last had this feeling
of loneliness, pain and woe,
from something I do not own.The ability to persuade and change
goes down, a dismal hope and dream, weighed by discrimination misconstrued as tradition;
longing for freedom—I scream.I just want to be free
from the pain and misery
hidden by smiles behind miles
of heartbroken tears and sorrow.In this world it was just never meant to be;
but if only it could start with me.
