At Dante's Base

3rd Person POV

Dante gritted his teeth as he wiped a speck of oil off his face. His Hellcat had burst a leak in the fuel carriage, and he was currently attempting to fix it. Holding out a hand, his endoskeleton passed him a wrench, which he used to tighten up one of the bolts.

"Enjoying yourself?"

Dante yelped and tried to sit up but smacked his head against the bottom of the car. Groaning, he slid himself out and stood up. "Really, Cee? Did you have to...?" he trailed off.

He had expected Arcee in her Bot form, but what he saw was a girl in her late teens roughly as tall as he was, albeit slightly smaller, with blue hair tinted pink at the edges, and a blue, black, and pink outfit. Her blue eyes seemed to glow in amusement as she laughed.

"My eyes are up here, Dante," she joked with a smile.

"Sorry, Cee," he apologized as he reunited with his endoskeleton. "But damn, you look great! I'm guessing this is your holoform?"

Arcee blushed and nodded. "I was tired of using my regular form and knocking my head on the ceiling lights. And besides, I wanted to surprise you."

Dante rubbed the back of his head. "Couldn't you have waited until after I got out from under the car?"

Arcee smirked. "Where would the fun in that be?"

Dante rolled his eyes. "I think you're spending a little too much time around me," he joked. "My awesome personality is rubbing off on you."

Arcee smiled and, mirroring his words from before, said, "You make that sound like it's a bad thing."

Dante smirked. "And here I thought I was the best at mimicking," he teased, copying her voice.

Arcee rolled her eyes. "Whatever. So, what's keeping you up? You do know it's five in the morning, right?"

Dante shrugged. "The Hellcat sprung a leak. I was up all night fixing it." Then he got an idea and grinned. "Say, are you any good at shooting in your holoform?"

Arcee gave him an amused look. "I can outshoot you any day of the week."

Dante smirked and grabbed his Barret. "Why don't we test that?"

Timeskip

After setting up some targets about half a mile away, Dante and Arcee laid down on the grass, Dante acting as spotter while Arcee held the large rifle in her holoform hands. Her bike form leaned against a tree, gleaming beautifully in the midmorning light.

"Just put your finger on the trigger, steady your nerves, and shoot when you're ready," Dante advised.

Arcee breathed in and out before squeezing the trigger. The gun recoiled with a loud bang, and the gunshot echoed over the rocky plains of Jasper, Nevada.
