"Yo Mia you got mail."

I took out my head phones."What? I didn't hear you."I yelled back."You got mail."

Standing up I ran downstairs."Don't op- Why you open my mail?"I asked trying to snatch it from him.

Putting his arms in the air he proceeded to read over the papers. Black people always reading other people mail, it get on my fucking nerves.

I jumped trying to take it from him."You got kicked out of school."He said handing me the letter. "You going to Passion Education."He smiled.

I read the paper."I told them I didn't wanna go there!"I sat down on the couch."How they gonna make me go there?"I mumbled.

Before school ended my principle warned me that she was gonna send me to passion education because of my test cores.

I didn't believe her so I brushed it off until she kept telling me. Passion education was a private school where all the white rich people went.

Don't get me wrong I liked the idea of higher education but not at no white ass school. I liked my school, and loved my hood. I didn't wanna leave it.

"Why you mad because they noticed you was to smart for what they was offering? You know how much that shit cost?"June asked.

"You ain't gone be there to long. They gone find out you smarter than you look."He added flipping through channels on the tv.

"Don't nobody wanna go to that white ass school."Eli laughed snatching the remote from June sitting down on the couch.

"Right. I probably be the only black person there."I agreed.

"So. As long as you getting proper education that shit don't matter. You going."

"No I'm not."I stood up walking away. "Yes the fuck you is. It ain't no other school's around her for yo ass."June said."They tryna take yo ass out the ho-"

"How about you take yo ass there."I yelled throwing the letter at him. The room got quiet as my brothers looked at me like I was crazy.

I never raised my voice at June outta respect. My moms died on us when June was in his second year of college. When he found out he dropped out to take care of me and my younger brother Eli.

For seven years straight June made sure that food was on the table, cloths on our backs, and a roof was over our heads and for that I respect him.
