King and Queen of Mafia

Chapter 3

As we came at the gates of a mansion, I gaped in awe. It was huge!

First of all, there were so many trees around us that you might think you are in a forest. A really beautiful one. And then there was this long driveway. As for the mansion, I could swear it cost billions. It was a perfect location for a perfect mansion. The main entrance gate had guards. Obviously.

"Is this yours? " I asked a foolish question with a little fear.

"Yes" he replied with a hint of a smile. So he surely was a billionaire. I didn't know you could earn this much just by dealing some drugs and weapons illegally. Maybe he did something else too. I decided to ask him.

"Do you only do illegal business?" my voice was a little low due to my fear of him getting too angry.

"No. I do own a chain of hotels and restaurants here and there. Just a side business." he shrugged as if it were nothing.

"Well, you have to do something to show people the reason why you are so rich." he said. 

"So is Enzo a bad guy like you?" I asked childishly.

"Enzo the bad boy?" Kai scoffed "Enzo the church boy more like." he laughed. 

"But that is if you compare him to me. He is a really bad guy otherwise." Kai said with a smirk.

That meant that they were pretty dangerous people.

"Who is this girl, Kai?" a young boy around twelve asked. 

He was Kai's brother I guessed. They looked quite alike. He had brown hair too. They were not as dark as Kai's though. Just this little one looked way more innocent unlike the mafia king beside me. He had the same kind of smirk plastered to his face as Kai.

"Rose" 

"Why is she here?" he asked a little surprised. They were talking as if I wasn't even there. Seems like he was not used Kai bringing girls home.

"I'll tell you later Leo. But she is going to stay with us." what?!

"What do you mean I am going to stay with you huh?" my anger was rising again.

"Not now Rose." 

I was going to yell at him for behaving like that but his looked dared me to disobey him.

"Umm Kai,  can I show her around?" Leo interrupted. I noticed he had more of an American with a hint of British accent unlike Kai's completely British one.

"Sure little bro." He ruffled his hair. This man's attitude had changed around his brother. He was nice to him. I was a little jealous of them. I never had a sibling whom I could fight with and love at the same time. Kai surely was bipolar. A little while ago, he was burning with rage not to mention killed three people and now he is so sweet. And maybe cute too.

This confused me. Did I like him or hate him? Only time would tell. I was more comfortable with the hate though.

"Hi Rose." he looked at me.

"Hi - umm" I was not sure what to call him. Kai had called him Leo but I did not want this to get uncomfortable with me calling him something wrong. They did call Lorenzo Enzo.

"Leo"

Meanwhile, in Kai's throne room.

Kai's POV

"What happened Kai? " Enzo was worried too. He was more worried for his wife Dana and his daughter now that they had become a part of the family. In mafia, the lesser your family and emotional connections, the lesser your threats.

"I  think Colton knows something we don't" he was great at playing the suspense game.

"What? "

"I am totally clueless about that." But I was sue that this was just some act or distraction or something really serious.

"Okay. Why did you bring that girl here? " he said with a smirk. But I know he was trying to distract me before I went too deep into that. He knew it was not good for me. I did it too much sometime. I think that it totally worked.  Images of her fighting those men came to my mind. She looked so hot and was so brave.

"Colton's men were following her." I half lied. I had brought her mainly because of my mistake. And I don't  like to point out my mistakes.

"That's not the only reason, is it?" he said seeing straight through my lie. Like I said, he knows me best.

"No" I refused to give anything away. But he had known me long enough. He just had to ask the right way to get me talking. Only he could do that. 

Until today. My subconscious snapped at me.

I don't know how and why I told Rose who I was.

He gave me the tell me more look. Even though he was a 26 year old guy, he still gossiped like a small 12 year old girl.

"Okay" I sighed, "I might have accidentally told her about our original business."

"You what?!" he freaked out. Although I knew he had an idea about it. Seeing as he had openly mentioned me killing those men in front of her. He just wanted to hear it coming from my mouth for confirmation.

"I don't know how. It just slipped. Even I was surprised myself. I totally regret it." I reasoned.

"You should. You have to deal with this and stop her from telling anyone. Just like you made we do with Dana." Oh god. He was impossible.

"Yeah. I know. So nice of you like the helpful brother you are." I said sarcastically.

"Thank you." he smiled. " So what do you plan to do?"

"I am not sure. For now, my plan is to make her stay here and not let her contact anyone. She took it pretty good, you know. She did not freak out, shout or start throwing things at me." I said making a reference to what his wife had done trying to tease him.

"Yeah okay. What about Colton though? We totally forgot about that."

"Actually I did not but anyway. We both know Colton only kills. He doesn't care about following or holding anyone hostage." I thought that it was somewhat stupid of him. That is certainly not how mafia works. But luck was usually on his side.

"That is a little weird but let's not stress it until we know anything more about it. And I think we will have to run a background check on Rose." he said.

"Surely we do."

I think I will update in every 3 or 4 days. That is unless I have something important, don't have time or have a writer's block ( which I hope I don't 🤞).
