*Description by Author*

Eden is about to meet her mate. Too bad for him she isn't really what he expected to find in a mate nor she in him, but since when has that stopped fate. After all one single bite is all it takes.

Okay, so a werewolf story. Yes. A cliché Alpha story? No. There is an Alpha, but I promise you this story is one of a kind. It follows Eden, the Alpha’s daughter who isn’t appreciated for various reasons and throws her in a situation where it is hell. From one pack to the other, she struggles to be cared for or given any option or voice. The romance element matches. A girl who thinks she’ll never have a mate and a man who lost his mate. It is slow paced, it doesn’t throw them in a room and have them eating each other’s faces off. Nope. Neither are particularly happy with the circumstances, but both packs need something and both are incredibly stubborn. The author does an amazing job of having supporting characters developed enough for us to get what the person is all about, without having them overbearingly hog chapters on end with their backstories. Also, the supporting characters are there to SUPPORT the plot (as they should) and aren’t loud and unwanted in certain places. The history of it is done wonderfully.

I think, however, my favorite thing about The Bite of An Alpha is Eden. She is not that cry baby girl who forgives people after major betrayal and jumps into the arms of anyone offering a shoulder. She is strong - though hurt and disarmed inside – and doesn’t take anyone’s crap. She knows when enough is enough and she shares that with them. She had a life with her old pack, she had issues and situations there that the author introduced in the first couple chapters of the book and she doesn’t just go to a different place with new problems and obstacles to face and forget about her life before. She acknowledges it, accepts the fact that some of the things didn’t and wouldn’t go her way and she came to terms with it all. She accepted her past and though it does sometimes intrude on her new life, she handles it rationally and with a clear mind. I love that. Usually in werewolf stories the female protagonist is poorly developed throughout the plot, and whiny and weak. If she isn’t a damsel in distress, she is egotistical and loud. People may confuse that with a strong female who can kick butt, I see it as the female is just like that arrogant alpha they all insulted. Swearing in every sentence and directly defying authority for the heck of it, is NOT a strong female. Sure, she can swear and rebel against certain things but a strong female is one who doesn’t need saving and can accept the help if she somehow does need it. A strong female is level headed and a great leader, a Luna if you will. That is who Eden is becoming with every chapter. She is taking the struggles of her past and the hardships of her present and putting them to use as she slowly learns from them and continues to be open minded and grow to become something incredible in the future.

Now Mason, (the leading male, sorry I am only now bringing him up) is a beautiful example of realistic, well written character development. He is drowned in the sorrows of his past and yes, lets that control his decisions while he remains closed off and guarded. But as the story goes on, he loses the stiffness slowly, easing his way to become less and less angry. He is still the same Mason as the beginning, Eden didn’t walk in and make him all smiles and giggles, but as the story progresses you see he is becoming comfortable with the idea of Eden there. He’ll even be a smart aleck and sometimes, even…wait for it… NORMAL. *gasps heard all the way from Neverland* Yes. The latest chapter “Things Just Got Worse (Part 2)” [part 52] has to be my favorite of him. He lets his walls make an entry way. He doesn’t take them down, but he sort of moves them aside a tiny bit for one of Eden’s smiles or jokes to float through the cracks and into his mind and heart.

The slow paced feel of the story is one of the things I love about it, though I did get sometimes irritated by it at first. But the author, (who writes great books READ THEM ALLLLLL) has a way of making up for it. The development of everything and the chaos that rings around the peace, always ready to drop and trap our main characters into the whirlpool of emotion and challenges just makes everything seem real. It gives it this feel that replaces the need for a fast paced romance, the feel of being at the edge not knowing if Mason is going to burst or if a rogue or Eden’s old pack with jump in just when someone sits down with a cup of coffee. Those things make it intense and just lifts a weight off your shoulder and smile in content when you do see the small bits of a romance, or a friendship between Eden and the others. If I am being honest, anytime someone that doesn’t get along with Eden connects with her, I feel like it is a reward for being patient and helping support the character.

I love this book, I want a new chapter every single time I finish the latest one, I appreciate everything the author is doing with the werewolf world, she doesn’t go along with everyone else, she takes it in her own direction (THAT IS OKAY, IT IS SUCH A BROAD SUBJECT AND YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN HISTORY FOR WEREWOLVES WITH IT) and keeps it just a smidge on the cliché side to make it easier for the people of Wattpad that adore those stereotypical Werewolf stories. I give this book as many gold stars as it wants because I love it so much.

**********

Hi. Long time no see…read? Write? I don’t know but as I said in the message I posted on my profile, college is demanding attention right now but I promise once I get in the flow of things, more and more recent updates as well as my new story Affliction coming in March (gave myself a deadline for you guys) so if you haven’t go check that out, the prologue is up and comment to let me know what you think. Also, I will be making a reading list for all the books I write a review/ recommendation for so it is easier to find them and you will see which ones are no longer available.

Hope you have a good start to the New Year

Xo.
