"Can you believe today is the day Alex finds his mate?" I cringe as I make my way into the kitchen. Every week different wolves from our pack are assigned kitchen duty by Alpha Andres, who says it prepares us for the day we move out to start a life with our mates. Being as Alpha Andres doesn't trust putting lazy workers alone I'm lucky to get paired with Jasmine and Monica, two of the laziest wolves to ever live.

Alejandro, or as everyone else calls him 'Alex' is the future Alpha of our pack and today is his eighteenth birthday so he'll be able to find his mate. It's been the talk of the entire pack, especially the girls because they all hope to be the lucky one. Well all the girls except me because I know Alejandro will reject anyone as his mate if it isn't Emily, his girlfriend for the past three years. I've heard Alejandro promise Emily every night this past week since Emily and I have to share a room together.

"I hope it's me," Jasmine giggles standing near the stove with Monica on her side. I roll my eyes as I make my way over to the fridge to grab some ingredients that'll help me make breakfast knowing fully well that Jasmine and Monica were planning on gossiping the whole morning.

"No," Monica whines. "I want to be future Luna. I'd be better at it then you."

"Says who?"

"Me, obviously."

"Not even, maybe in your dreams." I clear my throat and both girls turn to glare at me.

"What Mia?" Jasmine snaps standing up straight with her hands on her hips.

"You're in my way." I snap back. I have no patience for gossip, one of the many traits I got from my mother who tended to keep to herself until she met my father. Jasmine rolls her eyes but steps out of my way so I can begin making breakfast. I zone the two girls out by putting my earbuds in my ears and raising my phone volume till I can't hear their annoying voices. It doesn't take me long to start placing plates full of food onto the island counter. Bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, waffles, you name it I made it. Turning off the stove I turn to put my dirty dishes in the sink when I see Alpha Andres standing in the kitchen staring at me with his arms crossed. Quickly pulling out my earbuds I bow slightly in respect.

"Alpha." I slowly lift my gaze to see Jasmine and Monica shaking silently in fear. I wonder how long the Alpha has been standing there and I started to feel kind of bad that I was ignoring him.

"Mia." Alphas soft tone causes me to turn my attention back to him. He never speaks in a soft tone, well at least not that I've heard. "Why is it that every time you three have kitchen duty I only ever see Mia working?" Alpha's tone goes hard as he turns to stare at the two shaking girls. Though I hate when they gossip I know it's best to keep them away from the stove. Last time Monica tried to cook half the kitchen caught on fire and instead of grabbing the fire extinguisher, Jasmine screamed and ran outside.

"It's fine Alpha I rather have edible food then let these two try and cook." Alpha turns to me, silently staring at me. Our eyes meet and before I know it he's speaking to me through the mind link. 'Are you sure you're okay with cooking while they do nothing?' Looking at Jasmine and Monica through the corner of my eyes I see them both looking down at their feet. 'It's fine Alpha, really.' Alpha hums loudly before turning to the frightened girls.

"Since Mia seems to have cooked all the food yet again you two will clean all the dishes." Jasmine and Monica start to whine and Alpha doesn't seem to like that. "And since you both wanna whine like pups you can also help the Luna today while they takes the pups to the lake. Am I understood?" I hear Jasmine and Monica whine again before they bow and agree.

"Good." Turning back to me he smiles gently. "The food smells amazing Mia, thank you." I smile and bow again before turning and walking out of the kitchen to the dining room area. The rest of the pack is already there sitting around the table waiting for Alpha Andres and Luna Evelyn to grab their food first.
