' Come on, David you can do it! ' Hilda encouraged as the nervous, shivering David sat there glued to his seat refusing to stand up.
' Just give it one more try you'll be fine! Last year went well! '
' Yeah! ' David shivered. ' Last year went all well when you put a tide mouse on me! And nearly got my soul removed! '
' Yeah... true... ' Hilda couldn't think of anything else to say. The last time Hilda had put a little enchantment on David and her Mum, she thought it'll be just fine and great until she realised she was stealing their souls. Now, she had learnt her lesson and was trying to get David to join the Warblers again, just without another tide mouse.
' Come on, David. Just think, you've got a tide mouse that won't take your soul or do nothing but make sure you ace that tryouts! ' Frida said. David gulped and nodded, still unsure.
' I'll try... '
As Hilda and Frida settled themselves at one of the seats at the back of the row, David slowly climbed the steps, this time missing the potted plant that stood in the way, and managed to get past the bee, and now, he stood right smack in the middle of the stage. The pianist started playing. Memorising the lines from the song he had sung, he began:
Oh Sparrow Scouts are proud to be
A friend to all humanity
To animals and spirits, too
We pledge to be of use to you
We do a good thing every day
For that's the Sparrow Scouting way
You can always count on a Sparrow
A Sparrow flies straight as an arrow
And he ended. Nervously, he looked over at Hilda and Frida who gave him a thumbs- up, then at Raven Leader. He smiled... a little. Hilda turned to Frida.
' How do you think he will do? I mean, the bugs still bother him when he's singing! '
' He seemed fine, nothing bothered him this time, right? '
' Right... but what if on the day— '
' Hilda, David will be fine, don't worry! ' Frida turned back to David who was still anxiously listening to his results. Hilda sighed and tried not to worry, the bugs were all brushed away by the enchanted tide mouse she had set on him the last time, but now... there was no tide mouse to brush away whatever bugs that might distract him.
' Let's just hope he gets the lead again. He went over the moon when he was given the lead. Maybe he could get the lead again. ' Hilda thought and that calmed her anxiety for David... but just a little. Fortunately, the remaining anxiety was drained out of Hilda's mind when she heard that David had been chosen to be part of the Warblers.
