Tossing off the quilt, the new bed, in the new room felt wrong. Looking around the room, CeCe was nowhere to be seen. A sudden feeling of panic shot through me until I remembered that CeCe was in another room, somewhere down the hall. Creeping out of my room I walked down the hall as quietly as I could toward CeCe's room. Pushing open the door, there she was, sleeping on the bed with the quilt lying on the floor. Going over to her, again I felt a stab of pain in my stomach, causing me to double over. Finally daring to look down there I was shocked by what I saw. On my right side was a mermaid, with flowing hair and a tail of swirls. 'What, when did that get there?' Pushing down the shirt I pinched myself, hoping to wake up.
"Ow," waking up with a start, CeCe was sitting up, rubbing her arm exactly where I had pinched myself. Looking at her I went over to CeCe and lifted her shirt and there, in the same spot as me was a beautiful mermaid. Running my hand over the shape I slowly wished that it would go away. "Maria, we're glowing again," staring at her I realize that she was right. Reaching up toward her face, I caressed her, hoping to make her feel better but it didn't work. 'I'm scared, what's happening to me?' Looking up at CeCe, she hadn't moved her lip, these were her thoughts. Staring back at her I couldn't believe that I had heard CeCe's thoughts, the sound of it still ringing in my head. I always thought we were close but this was a new level.
'CeCe, can you hear me?' Looking at her face for a response a sudden look of shock crossed her face. She tried to pull back but I held her close, trying to calm her down.
'What's happening, please stop,' CeCe's scared thoughts were being thrown at me. I had to get her to calm down.
"Sweet little girl, sleep now, calm your mind..." On and on I sang a song I had never herd before but as I sang CeCe began to doze off.
'I'm sorry maria, I love you," soon she was completely asleep. What on earth is going on?
