Chapter 1: Rainy Day

"Really? Did it have to rain today?" I listened to my best friend, EunAh, complain about today. We were both home alone at my house, doing nothing but staring outside and watching the raindrops slide down the windows.

My name is Lu SoRa. I just turned thirteen years old on December 22. I am full Chinese, and I live in Seattle, Washington. I'm in eighth grade and the youngest in the class.

"Why must it rain?!" EunAh whined once more.

She fell face first onto the couch and groaned. I chuckled at her childish actions.

"When does it never rain in Seattle?" I laughed.

I continued reading my book, The MazeRunner. I didn't want to watch the movie yet cause I wanted to read the book first. I heard it was very good.

"Why don't you just watch the movie? Then you don't have to read it," EunAh suggested.

I turned the page.

"Because the book is always better than the movie. It has more facts and details," I replied, eyes not leaving the book.

"But the movie makes the book come to life. You get to see the characters and the land. You get to see everything basically. The book doesn't show you any of that. It just describes it."

"True. But it describes it to give you a picture of everything. You have to use your imagination while reading."

"But don't you want to see how Newt looks like? Thomas Sangster plays Newt! I love him! He's so cute!"

I chuckled to myself and rolled my eyes. Though, I know someone much cuter than Thomas Sangster.

"Jungkook from BTS is cute," I said. "He's much cuter than Thomas Sangster."

"WHAT?! No way!" EunAh disagreed.

She stood up and snatched the book from my hands. I gasped and tried to reach for it. But, she moved her hand before I could grab it.

"Hey! Give me back my book!" I demanded.

She tossed the book somewhere and grabbed her magazine. She flipped through the pages before stopping on one.

"He's cuter," she said as she showed me a picture of Thomas Sangster.

I rolled my eyes and pushed her out of the way to retrieve my book. I sighed at some of the pages that were bended. I was hoping to keep this book in good shape. But, EunAh messed that up for me.

"I will show you BTS and prove that they are much cuter than him," I said pointing to that picture of Thomas. "Come with me."

I ran upstairs to my room with EunAh following behind me. Once we got in, she sat on my bed while I un-plugged my laptop from the charger. I set it on the bed in the middle of me and EunAh. I logged onto my computer and went onto Youtube to search BTS Just One Day, my favorite song from them. Since I took Korean, I understand this song pretty well. I could have a natural conversation with a person from Korea. And, I knew EunAh would understand since her parents are full Korean. Her mom is the one teaching me.

"Why are we watching this?" EunAh complained.

I hit her lightly on the back of the head and glared at her.

"Just watch," I replied. "Its really good. I love this music video."

I hit play and made it into full screen. The beginning made me squeal because Jungkook was the first one on the screen. EunAh stared at the screen, not even blinking once. I could tell she liked it. Everytime Jimin would sing or pop up onto the screen, she'd slightly smile.

Once the music video was over, EunAh sighed. I looked at her, smiling slightly. I waited for her opinion on this music video.

"Well?" I asked.

She sat there for a moment, thinking.

"I liked it," she mumbled. "You were right."

"What? I couldn't hear you," I pretended.

"I said you were right! Sheesh. You're deaf."

She threw a pillow at me before pulling out her phone. I looked at her phone and saw her deleting all her pictures of Thomas Sangter.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"What's that guy's name? The one that did the flip?" she asked.

"His name is Jimin."

"I like him now."

I laughed and shook my head. I scrolled down to look at the comments. A lot of people liked it. Some were negative comments, but most of them were positive ones. Something caught my eye to the side of suggested videos. It was titled History EXO-K. Curious, I clicked on it. I haven't heard of EXO-K before.

Soon the video began playing. Six really cute and handsome guys appeared on the screen. The song started playing. It was a cool beat. But when they started singing, it made the song better. The first guy had black somewhat curly hair. He was really cute, and he could dance.

"What are you watching?" EunAh asked.

"Sh!" I replied.

I was too focused on the video. All of them were cute. Soon EunAh began watching and couldn't take her eyes off. The chorus was the best part. I loved it! They had really good vocals and rappers. They had some pretty good dancers too. Though, one part confused me. They showed a different group of guys on one part. I was confused but continued to watch.

Soon the video was over. That was the best music video ever! It was better than BTS Just One Day. Well, to me it was.

"Hey, who was that?" EunAh asked.

"EXO-K."
