"Parating na si ma'am!"
I closed my notes and breathe deeply. We have a recitation today, and it will also serve us our daily quiz that's why I have to do good.
"Good morning Mrs. Shivon." Bati namin sa amin ng Disciplines and Ideas in Social Science teacher.
"Pass your index card to the front!"
Mabilis na kumilos ang mga kaklase ko. Mrs. Shivon is one of the terror teachers here in Saint Rios High School.
They're actually the best ones. Teachers with strong personality have made us more focus on our studies. They pressure us, look closely on us only because they wanted us to improve for the better. Students may hate them but let's admit that they have changed more lives than the others.
Mrs. Shivon immediately picked one from the index cards after she shuffled it.
"Who is Franz Boaz, Ms. Francesca Josefa Manlangit?"
Frances actively stood up. "Franz Boaz is the father of American Anthropology. His primary contribution was his theory of cultural relativism. His research demonstrated the many similarities between people of different races and ethnicities."
Our teacher put some score in the index card before calling a new name.
"If then what is anthropology, Jasmine Montoya?
Dahan-dahang tumayo si Jasmine. "Anthropology is derived from two Greek words anthropos and logos, which intensively studies human and the respective cultures where they were born and actively belong to."
"Good elaborate more Shane Quizon."
Lumingon ako kay Jasmine at ngumiti. Between us friends, Jasmine is the shy type one.
"Blaire Alaska Serrano, give me facts regarding the history of sociology."
After numbers of names being called, it was finally my turn.
I stood up confidently. "Sociology emerged with the two of the most significant social and political revolution in the history. The French revolution of 1789, alongside with the Industrial revolution in England during the 18th century, tremendously changed the people's lives."
"Good job everyone. For tomorrow's continuation of the topic, please answer the guide questions in page 16 of your modules. Good bye class."
Naexperience ko na din pagalitan ng teacher but being humiliated in front of the class? No, no. Never ko gustong maexperience yun.
I'm not actually approved with it too. Students make mistakes but everyone has a room for leanings either. Being scolded once or twice is enough, no need to tell the whole class how 'stupid' that particular student is. Teachers can scold and remind them to study better but if the student won't make any progress, then it's his problem now.
