I stared into the dark abyss. It moved. Breathing slowly. A large pulsating ooze. A thick blanket covering everything. A liquid coursing through the veins of the universe.
I sat atop my apartment complex, stargazing. It was a favorite past time of mine. I'd look at constellations, look for planets, shooting starts, satellites.
Tonight I was drawing in my notebook. The skyline. It was beautiful, all the city lights. But then i saw that power was slowly going out.
It took out city blocks, quickly shutting off. I stood up, knowing I had to get back inside fast. The lock on the door was electronic, and if I was still out here, I wouldn't be able to get back in until the power came back on.
I turned to open the door. But it wouldn't budge. It was almost like something was holding onto it.
I started pounding on the door, still trying to open it.
"LET ME IN," I shouted.
But nothing happened.
And soon
The power in the apartment shut down.
I looked around. It was dark. Only the stars and the moon were lit up.
But wait.
Where was the moon?
It was a full moon tonight, and I had just stared at it earlier.
It was gone. The moon was gone. I had begun to panic. What the hell was going on?
Then all the stars went out.
I sank to the ground.
It was dark. Completely dark. I couldn't see anything.
I heard screams in the streets. What was going on down there?
And I looked up.
I could barely breathe. My stomach sank.
The abyss glared at me. The deep dark abyss. I could feel my emotions, a million of them at a time, but I also felt... the abyss's emotions.
It pulsed. It growled. It dripped down from the sky.
It slowly dripped sinking lower. It covered the city. It covered everything.I stared at the abyss. And slowly I felt my mind leaving my body and joining. Joining the abyss.
