(( chapter one is really good. You're just gonna have to get through this before you can understand chapter one. >.< sorry about that guys!!! ))

A battle that lit up once she said yes. It could have been avoided if she was smart enough to let go. Instead, there are attacks almost every night towards the apposing forces. She loves him. He gets drunk.

One mistake and another person arrived. Their hostage. A baby girl. To young to run, fight, speak out. A mothers love is unbreakable. That's what they say. Unless the mother is killed.

It's one thing for the child to have a dead mother, but it's another thing when you watch your mother be killed. Blood coving you and it's not yours.

Too young to remember the beginning, but old enough to remember the shrieks, and pounding noises of a fist clashing another's face.

The hostage remains in the corner watching the war. When will it end? Will it ever end? Does anything ever end? If I close my eyes, the picture disappears, but the noise still remains. What do I do?! What can I do..?

"Get up you bitch! Get up right now!" A drunken man stood over a bloody broken woman. He held a 9mm handgun to the woman's head as he tried to keep it steady. Which was hard as he rocked side to side. "I said get up!" He then pulled the woman up by her hair.

"Please, I love you. Don't do this..." the woman managed to mumble out. It was hard to hear what she said since she was crying loudly.

"Shut up and bring me my child!" He then pushed her towards a five year old girl who was crying in the corner in fear.

"Baby! Please, please don't do this..."

"Do it, damn it!"
The woman shook her head and went to run for the child so she could keep her safe. But, before she could reach the child there were two loud booms that echoed in the small apartment and the perimeter of the building.

A group of young men laugh as they talk about women. "Did you see the ass on that whore?" One guy said as he took a puff from his cigarette.

A young man about 19 years old, laughed and nodded. "Hell yeah! Who didn't?" He chuckled but was cut off by the sound of gun fire.

"What the fuck?!" A man holding some vodka, jumped.

"Sounded like a gun. No worries. Come on. I got some weed at the apartment. Let's go fire it up, shall we?" Another man said.

"What if someone was hurt?" The 19 year old man asked.

"Who cares."

"I wanna see what happened." He then began walking off towards where he heard the fires take place.

"Come on, Nick!" a blond man sighed.

"I wanna see. That's all." Nick shrugged him off then headed to the apartment room where the gun went off. Once he reached the closed door he slowly opened it, not even thinking about knocking or even thinking if it was the right place.

"Hello? Is someone there?" He asked as he poked his head around the doorway.

To his surprise, there was a man standing over a dead woman with a gun in his hand. The woman had been shot in the chest twice. Her blood lay everywhere, including a young child. The little girl.

Nick opened the door fully and stood there in shock. The man with the gun looked over at the black haired, blue eyed boy then began to cry. Nick's companions ran up to him to only see what he had seen.

"Shit... Do something Nick!" The blond man spoke.

"Like what, Max!" Nick snapped.

"I don't know! Something!" But before Nick could reply the man slowly aimed the gun at the little girl.

"No! Don't sir!" Nick burst into the room from the doorway. He causally made his way over to the man with a slight bent in his back and knees. "Please. You don't have to do this." He then made his way between the man and the young girl as if he was protecting the girl with his body.

"You're right. I don't." The man wiped some tears then placed the gun to his temple. Without warning, he pulled the trigger, and took his last breath. Blood flew onto Nick and all around the room. The boy stood there in shock unable to speak or move let alone breathe.

"Holly shit! Nick!" Max went running to Nick and shook him furiously. "Nick! We got to get out of here!" He then pulled the boy to the doorway before Nick could come back to reality.

"W-wait... what about the girl?" He whispered.

"Forget it! Let the police deal with it! And let someone else call the police." Max began to march off.

Nick stood in the doorway while the other men looked at him then at Max. As if, wondering what was going to happen next.

"Well, you guys coming?!" Max yelled. Just then Nick walked back into the apartment and went up to the little girl and knelt down in front of her.

The girl was crying softly now, as if all her strength left her. Nick looked her up and down. Scanning her filthy body that was covered in her mothers blood. Her little dress was torn, as if someone had attacked her.

"What's you're name?" He asked softly. The girl only hid her face in the corner. Trying to get away from him.

"Nick! I hear the police! We got to get out of here!" Max shouted.

"I can't leave her!" Nick screamed.

"Then take the fucking girl!" Max then ran as so did the other men. Nick panicked for a bit as he thought about his record. He then quickly picked the girl up and began to run. The girl was screaming and fighting against the black haired, pale skin boy.

"Shut up, kid!" He whispered in a harsh tone. The sirens got louder and closer to his area. He then ran to an ally and covered the girls mouth with his hand. She stopped screaming and cried to herself as Nick watched the police pass them not even knowing he was there.

"Shit. That was close." he sighed. He then released his hand from the girls mouth. "What were you thinking?! Screaming?! You could get me in so much fucking trouble!" He shook her body harshly, but stopped when he looked into her aqua eyes. "Never mind. do you speak?" He asked in a calmer voice. The girl didn't reply. "Okay then. Let's get out of here." He then gently placed her back on the ground.

"Go on, you're free." Nick spoke in a kind voice. The girl stood there looking at him with teary eyes. "Well, go on." he motioned her away. But she remained in her spot.

"Well, I'm leaving then." Nick them began to walk away from the girl. As his back was turned to her he heard sniffling and more crying. He then stopped and turned to see her crying on the ground. He then sighed and went over to her.

"Hey, it's okay." He smiled softly then gently wiped her tears. She looked into his eyes as if asking who he was. He froze by the look in her eyes, but then shook it off. The little girl then yawned and looked down. Nick then picked the girl back up. "You can stay at my place tonight." He sighed as he took her to his apartment.

The crime scene took place where the girl's parents laid. The officers began searching for information and soon, the girl.
