Zora sighed leaning against her husband and mate, Nifrin, he was the son of the great Lord Buwaki. In their time of 1514, many women were married with children by Zoras age of 20 but she chose to study in secret through one of the teachers in her village. Because she was a learned woman, she caught her young lords eye.Nifrin was a tall man of 6 feet and 4 inches, he had a mass of silky curly locks and beautiful blue eyes in contrast to his caramel brown skin. Young Lord Nifrin was a man who did not seem like a man at all. He moved at lightning speeds and had claws for fingernails.

He had far more superior strength to everyone else other than his guard and army. There were many tales that told of her young lord and his father, many stating that they were Boswakis, blood suckers from a foreign land. However his lordship never lured pretty maidens into the forest for their bodies to never be found again. So what was he?

She didn't know, and she didn't care at the time, she just hoped to never cross his path. It was said he often killed those who gave him even the tiniest bit of disrespect and well, Zora was never one to be able to sit quietly and just look pretty. They met in a field when she was 17,near the sea and far enough from her village that no one would be able to find her studying as a woman shouldn't be.

The day they met he was injured, Nifrin sported a natsy gash on his arm and he told her told her constantly that he'd be fine and heal quickly. Of course, she would hear none of it and told him to shut his mouth. She then proceeded to tell him how infected his injury looked as she walked toward him.
Zora giggled at the memory  and wrapped her leg around Nifrins in their large bed. She recalled the look on his face, he had one dark brow raised in question as if asking her if she knew what she was doing.

She didn't care though and ripped a strip of cloth from her skirt and bandaged the wound, muttering at how a young warrior lord could let such a thing happen especially after being in so many battles. He in return called her a little girl who was asking to be killed by a wild beast and dragged her to the edge of the village and left her there after telling her that he was going to be fine and for her not to continue going so far from her village. Zora had completely disregarded his words and left the village everyday to study. Sometimes he showed up, and they argued again but he did not drag her away.

Instead he bid her adeu and left her to her studies with a small smirk to his face. Soon they met everyday in the field and sometimes near the beach that wasn't far beyond the field. He began to help her with her studies answering any questions she had, it was the beginning of a wonderful friendship. They could tell each other anything and so one day she asked him what was his darkest secret, surely he wasn't a man who told others everything and he responded that he would tell her his secret tomorrow under the high moon. He brought her to where the salted waters met the sanded land and sat her down, his icy blue eyes staring down at her hazel.

"I am no man, Zora." He told her

"I am pure animal with a mostly human form" he continued " I eat raw meat-not of humans but of the game that is found in the wild and brought back to the hacienda. I am a monster but not a terrible one."

Zora raised a brow at his statement "Are you a lycan like the stories the village head tells us?"

Nifrin shook his head "No. Not a wolf but something similar. I am a dog."

Zora laughed and Nifrin crossed his arms "It makes sense as to why you never disagreed whenever I claimed you as one."

Nifrin huffed and his eyes widened as Zora placed a soft hand against his cheek "You are still my best friend Nifrin, dog or man."

At age 19 she still hadn't married and instead of taking classes in the village she took classes with Nifrin at his estate, with his tutors. Her parents began to worry at her sending off all the suitors who wished for her hand and soon so the villagers began to talk. They marked her as a tainted woman, Lord Nifrins whore. Then Nifrin took a stance, in front of the village center he called all to attention.

" I know not, who started these vicious stories about my dearest friend though I do understand how the situations looks. However our friendship is just that and no more. Though I do hope to somehow win Zoras' heart."

Zora was terribly shocked by his words, she learned a lot about his nature and that when dogs take a mate they mate for life unless their mate has done some super wrongdoing like killing their own pup.Nifrin saw the look on her face and gave a small nod before leaning down and whispering for her to meet him when the moon was high at their secret spot, if she wished to accept his claim.

She wasn't sure on what to do at first, was he just doing this because most of the eligible men in the village were taken by younger brides who won't fight them over politics and money? but she loved himshe didn't care what he was claiming her for she knew that after all the late night talking and meddling in the passages in the state that she had fallen for him.

So she kissed him under a high moon his boots and her flats removed so the oceans water licked their feet softly and the sand tickled their toes.
Nifrin smirked softly as his wife and mate sighed and leaned against him. He knew there was a reason he hadn't killed her for her insolence long ago when they first met. It was because his heart knew before his mind that he would come to love this girl, under a high moon and next to ocean waves.
