Jungwon's heart wouldn't stop racing. Every time he closed his eyes, he could still see Jiwon's face, the hurt and disbelief in her eyes when she had learned the truth. The words she had said to him kept echoing in his mind, like a constant reminder of how much he had messed up.

"You lied to me, Jungwon. You kept a secret, and I don't know how I feel about it anymore."

It wasn't just the pain in her voice that hurt. It was the realization that he had broken something between them. She had trusted him. She had always trusted him.

But now... he didn't know if she could ever trust him again.

-

Jungwon couldn't sit still in class. His leg bounced nervously beneath the desk as he tried to focus on the lesson, but all he could think about was how to fix things with Jiwon.

He had tried to apologize yesterday, but it hadn't been enough. The look in her eyes when she turned away from him still haunted him.

What can I do?

He thought about what his friends had said. They had all agreed-he had messed up, but they also knew he was genuinely sorry. He knew it wasn't going to be easy to win back her trust, but he wasn't ready to give up.

-

Jungwon found himself walking to the cafeteria, but his mind wasn't on food. It was on Jiwon. He saw her sitting with her friends at a table near the windows, and his stomach twisted. He wanted to go to her, to talk to her, but he couldn't find the courage.

Instead, he stood there for a few moments, just watching her from a distance. She looked... distant. The same warm, easygoing smile she used to wear was gone, replaced by something colder. The ache in his chest intensified.

He couldn't let it end like this. He wouldn't let it end like this.

-

Jungwon had spent the whole afternoon thinking about how to approach Jiwon. He couldn't let another day pass without at least trying to make things right.

After school, he stood in front of the school gates, waiting for her to walk by. His hands were sweaty, his heart thudding in his chest. It was now or never.

When he finally saw Jiwon coming, walking with her friends, his stomach dropped. He felt like he was about to do something stupid, but he couldn't back down now.

"Jiwon!" he called, his voice coming out louder than he expected.

She stopped in her tracks, turning slowly to face him. The way her eyes met his sent a shiver down his spine. She didn't look angry-just tired. Worn out.

He walked toward her, his steps hesitant. "Can we talk? Please?"

Jiwon sighed, clearly frustrated, but she nodded. "I don't have all day, Jungwon."

"I know, I know," he said quickly, almost tripping over his words. "I just need a minute."

Jiwon's friends lingered behind, watching them with curious eyes, but Jiwon didn't seem to care. Her arms were crossed over her chest, a barrier between them.

Jungwon took a deep breath and finally spoke, his voice more steady now.

"Jiwon, I messed up. I know I can't change what I did, but I want you to know that I never meant to hurt you. I thought keeping the secret was the right thing to do, but now... now I see I was wrong. I'm sorry for making you feel like you couldn't trust me."

Jiwon's expression didn't soften, but there was a flicker of something in her eyes-something that made Jungwon hold on to the faint hope that maybe she hadn't completely shut him out.

"I should've told you sooner. I should've been honest, no matter how hard it was. But I kept it from you because I didn't want to lose what we had. And now... now I'm afraid I've lost you."

There was a long pause, and Jiwon didn't say anything right away. Jungwon could feel his heart racing in his chest, the silence stretching between them.

"I don't know what you want me to say, Jungwon," she finally replied, her voice quiet. "You lied to me. You didn't trust me enough to tell me the truth. I don't know if I can just forget about that."

"I know," he said, his voice cracking slightly. "I don't expect you to forget. I just want the chance to prove to you that I'm not that person. I don't want to lose you, Jiwon."

She looked away for a moment, and for a second, he thought she was about to walk away. But when she looked back at him, there was something different in her eyes-an uncertainty that mirrored his own.

"You've already lost a part of me, Jungwon," she said softly, her words cutting deeper than he expected. "I don't know if I can trust you the way I did before."

Jungwon's chest tightened. He could feel the weight of her words, and for a moment, he didn't know what to say.

"I'll do whatever it takes," he said after a long pause, his voice desperate now. "I'll prove that I'm worthy of your trust. I'll make it right. Please, just give me the chance."

Jiwon looked at him for a long time, and Jungwon could see the struggle in her eyes. He wasn't sure what was going through her mind, but the fact that she hadn't walked away yet gave him hope.

"I don't know, Jungwon," she said quietly. "But... maybe, just maybe, we can figure this out. But it's going to take time. And I need to see that you're really sorry. That you really mean it."

Jungwon's heart skipped a beat. "I will. I promise. I'll show you, Jiwon. I swear."

She nodded slowly, still uncertain, but there was a small shift in her expression, something softer, as if she was beginning to believe him.

For the first time in days, Jungwon felt like maybe, just maybe, things could be okay again. It wouldn't be easy. It would take time. But he was willing to wait.

Because he had already lost too much to let go now.

-

Jungwon woke up the next morning with a sense of cautious optimism. It wasn't fixed, not yet, but Jiwon had agreed to give him a chance. That was all he needed to start making things right.

He spent the entire day thinking about ways to show her that he was serious. He knew words wouldn't be enough, but actions... actions could speak louder than anything he had said so far.

He wasn't going to give up on Jiwon. Not now, not ever.
