a day at the beach

I walk along the beach feeling the soft sand crumble beneath me, music blasting in my ears, the subtle heat on my right cheek as the sun hits it. I quietly hum to myself as the waves lap onto my bare feet. Feeling the cool breeze as it picks up some of the salty water and sprays it onto my face. I get lost in thought when all of a sudden I feel a pain in my tailbone. I don't remember hitting the ground but, here I am.

Looking up, I see who knocked me over. A puppy, hovering over me panting and getting drool all over my face. "Hi my love! You're such a sweet boy aren't you?" I reach up and give him a soft pet on the forehead.

That's when I hear him, "JET, get back here!" I watch as a tall lanky man walks towards me. I look back to the dog who has now snuggled in the sand with his head on my lap, "You must be Jet, why didn't you tell me your owner was cute?" I feel a presence next to me, the tall man clears his throat. I glance over with complete terror on my face, "OH MY GOD PLEASE TELL ME YOU DIDN'T HEAR THAT," I feel a slight heat in my cheeks as my blush starts to spread. I notice his features now, his very prominent nose, his long beautiful white hair, his brown eyes like pools of honey in the sunlight. The man lets out a small laugh, "I think he didn't tell you because he seems to like you." I smile slightly, "Well Mr. Cute Owner, you gonna help me up or not?"

He looks at me in surprise and immediately extends a hand, "I'm so so sorry, excuse me."

"You're pretty cute like that," I say pausing, waiting for him to say his name.

"Kite, my names Kite."

"Well it's nice to meet you Kite, the names (y/n)"

"(y/n), what a pretty name for a pretty girl."

I blush slightly, "There's a pet friendly sushi place just up the road from here, wanna maybe grab dinner?"

He looks taken back almost shocked.

"What has no one ever asked you out," I say teasingly.

He lets out a laugh so small I can barely make it out, "That would be lovely, (y/n)
