Sam woke up to a slight discomfort in her chest.

Sommers was still asleep, it was a beautiful sunny morning. She looked towards the window. The trees and the hedges were hosting many birds, she got an irrational urge to climb the tree and bring down a bird to gift Emily.

Her thoughts were interrupted by another jolt of pain. She whimpered, her insides were burning. Was a worm supposed to hurt this much?

"Oww!" She unintentionally groaned, waking Sommers up in the process, who was an extremely light sleeper, unlike her who slept like a log.

He woke up, slightly confused to his surroundings, and then everything clicked in.

"Where does it hurt Sam?" He gently asked.

She wanted to scream at him that 'everywhere!'.

And that's what she did.

"Oh my god! It hurts every-fucking-where!" She squeezed her eyes shut, clutching at her chest, trying to suppress the pain.

Sommers jolted alert, all signs of sleep gone.

"Hang in there Sam, I'm calling the Doctor" he said as he raced to the door, yelling for a Doctor.

She let out a blood curdling scream, as the stabbing pain threatened to overwhelm her senses. She was sobbing now.

Sommers rushed back to her, rubbing comfortingly on her arm, as he called his parents.

Sam found it anything but comforting.

"Don't touch me! Aahh, shit, it hu-hurts" she sobbed. Sommers held back his hands, he looked terrified.

The doctors rushed in, she felt a needle pinch on her right arm and the pain faded as she slipped into unconsciousness.

This time when she woke up, she felt sluggish, as if everything was a dream. She sat up with slow movements and drank in the sight around her. She was in the same room, but this time, her parents were sat on the black couch, her mother in her father's arm and Sommers was sitting beside them with his head in his hands.

"Hey guys" she said, her speech slurring.

That caused the three of them to look up with wide eyes. Her mother rushed to her side, pulling her into her arms.

"Oh my baby.... I thought-I thought...". She sobbed, Sam couldn't quite understand what she was trying to say, but she hugged her back nonetheless.

Dad arranged himself on the right of the bed, comforting her mother. Sommers came to her left, looking at her with a pained smile.

And then she really wanted to know.

"Mum, Dad, why are you all so upset? What's wrong?" She brought up the dreaded question.

Sobs racked her mother's body as she fully turned towards her father, embracing him.

Sam looked at Sommers with confusion, he opened his mouth to say something, when a knock was heard at the door.

Her Mother composed herself the best she could and opened the door, revealing a Doctor in a white coat.

"Hello, I am Dr. Wells, you can call me Lydia" she said with a smile.

She was a middle aged woman with dark hair swept into a side ponytail, with wise eyes and smile crinkles.

Her parents nodded, acknowledging her. She walked over to the bedside table on her left as Sommers went and stood by Mom and Dad. Lydia picked up her file and said,
