Mistake

"Anisha, please pass me that cable," Rohit said.

- "Which one?"

- "The brown coloured one. On the left side of your table."

- "Sure."

She threw the cable towards him. He caught it promptly and plugged it into the machine in his hand. The scene was simple. Rohit and Anisha were in a garage (unable to find a proper workspace) and were working on their new project. Rohit pressed a few buttons and said, "Anisha, take a look. I hope this thing is okay." Anisha came forward and took a look at the green LCD. "Nope, there is some error, Rohit." She flipped the device around and went through the circuit. "Here, you see, the wire got detached. Pass me the soldering iron," she said.

- "Give it to me. Let me solder that."

- "You finish the code."

- "Okay."

He passed her the soldering iron and she started to solder the loose wires. "Rohit, how many days are left for the presentation?" she asked.

- "Umm... The date is marked with red on the calendar."

She looked up and shouted, "What do you mean by we have only four more days to complete this thing?"

- "Technically three days as we have our flight to the United States one day earlier."

- "Do you have any idea how much work is left?"

- "Yeah. Obviously. I am the team leader so I know. Only about a few hundred lines of code."

- "Where are you getting the word 'only', Rohit?"

- "Umm, we will finish it in time. You can chill."

- "I hope you remember that this presentation is our opportunity to get this job. Don't mess that up."

- "Anisha, we got the job. We have already received the appointment letters. Don't worry."

- "Just let's finish this thing in time."

- "Yeah. We will."

- "Rohit, you know, I actually dreamt of working in the DRDO?"

- "Yeah. You said it several times."

- "I screwed up their examination like hell."

- "Don't be sad, Ani. You will get better opportunity."

- "How are you always so optimistic, man?"

- "Because I have such a beautiful girlfriend as you, who is always beside me."

- "That was smooth but you should finish the project first without flirting anymore."

- "Hey! I wasn't flirting. I just told you the truth."

- "Whatever!" she was blushing.

Rohit was working with great concentration. A few hours had passed. Rohit looked at the wristwatch. It was about 9 o' clock in the night. "Ani, my work is done," he said. There was no reply. He turned back. She had fallen asleep. Rohit walked a few steps, sat in front of her and stared at her face for some time. After a few minutes, he kept his hand on her hand and woke her up.

- "Did I fall asleep?" she asked in a sleepy voice.

- "Yes. But trust me, you were looking so cute."
