In 7th grade I met this super cute boy who went to my church. I only talked to him once a week at youth group and he went to a different school. To my friends he was cute church boy- perfectly appropriate. We stocked his Instagram, picked apart everything he said to me, and screamed when we found out his girlfriend broke up with him. Two weeks after we found out he got dumped, he came up to me during a free minute at youth group. "So, I need to tell you something," he said confidently.
"Yes?" I replied
"I like you, I think you're really pretty, but I can't ask you out because I'm not ready to date anyone yet," he explained slowly.
"I like you too, Adam, but I just broke up with my boyfriend a little while ago, so I'm not ready to date anyone else either." A huge smile crept across his face.
"How about we don't date. We just won't date anyone else and when we're ready we'll be together," he said.
"Okay," I answered. "Deal." Then we hugged. I proceeded to run to the bathroom to call my best friend. I told her everything that we said and she was so happy for me.

A few years passed and I had completely forgotten about this promise. Adam had moved away at the beginning of eighth grade and I hadn't spoken to him in two years. I didn't date anyone in eighth grade because everyone that went to my middle school was too ugly and I still kind of missed Adam. By freshman year I had forgotten about him. In my first year of high school, I dated one guy but we only went on two dates because he turned out to be a huge jerk. On the first day of tenth grade I hugged all my friends I hadn't seen in a few months and went through all my classes.

At the end of the day, I was walking towards the buses and a boy I didn't recognize came up to me.
"Hey Alexa, you didn't think you could get rid of me that easily, did you?" I stared at him for a second and then he smiled at me.
"Adam! Oh my gosh. How are you?" I hugged him and he looked at me for a second.
"So, are you ready?" He asked. Ready for what? I thought. Then it hit me. He was asking if I was ready to date him. After all this time he still liked me.
"Of course!" I replied.
"To be honest, I forgot about that until now." Adam looked at me and said, "What are you doing this Saturday?" "Nothing." I answered.
"Good. Because I want to show you something. I'll text you the details." "Okay." I said and left to get on my bus.

"You'll never guess who I saw today." I exclaimed into the phone.
"Who?" asked Maddie. Maddie had been my best friend since 6th grade and she had known about Adam when we were in 7th grade.
"Cute church boy." I said.
"You did not!" She exclaimed
"I know! He goes to our school. I guess he moved back."
