An explosion rang out. Boom! The earth beneath us shook and flew everywhere. It was so close, I could feel the ground hit my face as I fell to the ground hard. I could barely hear anything. Everything was muffled. I couldn't see anything. Everything was blurry.
What's going on...?
Followed shortly, a soft thud was heard and a cry of pain sounded louder than the explosion itself. "I-I-I....R-Roman..?" This quiet voice said in between gasps and coughing. I then rolled over around to see Stevie missing his lower half while he laid in the crater. Holy shit...
Minutes later, Eloise ran over and grabbed my shoulder, "C'mon, Roman, snap out of it! What do we do, what do we do?!" She cried in panic, frantically motioning down at what's left of Stevie's body, still twitching occasionally.
What do I do? What can I do? This is bad. This was not supposed to happen. This wasn't the plan. How did this even happen? Where did I go wrong? Is this all my fa-
Eloise shook me hard and i snapped my head towards her. In the distance, we heard and saw guards running with dogs.
"El, we need to get out of here. We need to leave. Verreaux isn't that far from here, w-we can, we can get a, uhm. A boat from the fishing port and-and we c-can-" Eloise slapped a hand over my mouth and shook her head before motioning to Stevie.
Tears filled my eyes and I crawled over to him. Shakily reaching out to check his pulse. My heart was thumping out of my chest, I almost thought it was his. But there was no way. He's gone.

"On this island, we've got everything we need. We've got the best ruler. And everything is a fair price. We have nothing to complain about. This is our utopia. That's what someone else would tell you. Someone who lives on this island, completely blinded by the lies that held us together since the very beginning.
What happened? Well, it happened about five years ago. The island broke out into a war that lasted four years. The rulers of the capitals in every territory thought what each other was doing wasn't how they wanted to see the island in it's future.
Some of the towns weren't able to bounce back as quickly as others. While the majority of the towns in Calderai have gone back to normal, others are struggling since they don't have as much money as the newly built towns that are closest to the capitals.
I live in Bua, Mount Sturlocke. Our cities are pretty much brand new since we live pretty close to Aelbrough, our capital. Back when the war was bad to the southwest of Mount Sturlocke, many of the occupants of that territory came pouring in. We had two different families staying in our family room.
We had to share with the "enemy", my father called them. Mother thought of them the same way, but she took care of them out of pity. Father couldn't stand it. He'd yell curses and swears at her day in and day out everyday he came in from work. As anyone else would have, she got tired of it. She gave the families enough coins to buy a room in the inn, fed their horses, and sent them on their way.
