Chapter 4

Crystal

After Avery went out,I went upstairs to change to another cloth in my small apartment.When I got back to the bakery I put on my good luck apron and set to work. I peeled the potato and carrot,set it aside after washing and slicing into tiny bits. After that I mashed the meat,added the ingredients then I boiled the meat before adding the carrots and potato. I let it all boil for 10 minutes while I added butter to the flour and baking powder. I added a little bit of water and mixed it to form dough. I put the dough on a flat table after spraying flour on the surface to prevent it from sticking. I spread the dough with a rolling pin then put the already cooked meat on the spread out dough before cutting it into full moon size.
After folding it, I cracked raw eggs, whisked it and usee brush to apply in on the surface of the meat pie to give it a moist texture after baking. I placed it in the oven and walked out to join Joziey.
"Hey,sold anything yet?"
"Yeah, is the meat pie ready?"he asked and I shook my head."is he the cool headed type?"he asked and I looked at him trying to decipher what he meant
"I am talking about Reed"he said rolling his eyes. "Oh,yeah. He was nice,you know Media will make-up any story for their Magazines to sell" I said and he nodded his head saying "hmm.that's true.You have flour on your hair" he said ruffling it as I hit his hand away and went to the bathroom to wash it off

Reed

Today is the day Crystal and I are going to see the hospital and we planned to meet each other there. I got held up in the traffic and I wasn't surprised when I got there and saw Crystal in the waiting room pressing her phone.
"Hey" I called her as I sat beside her. "Reed you are late. The Doctor called for us 5 minutes ago"
"I am sorry,I got held up on the traffic"
"Okay. We are after the woman in there so we will be called immediately she comes out" I was about to say something when I heard her stomach mumble
"Have you eaten this Morning?" I asked and she shook her head saying "I don't do breakfast"
"Why?please be honest with me" I asked facing her "uh,my income doesn't allow it. I have to pay rents and send money to my Dad so i have just little to fend for myself after everything is done"
"Oh,I am sorry about that"
"You don't need to be"she said smiling up at me
"Come on let's go get something to eat" I said taking her hand but she dragged me back. "No Reed it's almost our turn"She said as a Nurse called us to enter
"See told ya"she said with a fake accent that made me laugh
"Okay but after this I am taking you out for a treat. Don't bother to argue I am not taking no for an answer" I deadpan
"Okay,no problem. Let's get this done then"
