The oath of Vayuputras is the last and the third book of Shiv trilogy written by Amish Tripathi. Around 5000 years ago, Shiva was a normal human being and later with of his good deeds and believes, he became god. One fine day, Panchvati with Shiva comes to know Somras and the process of manufacturing to understand plague disease. There, he comes to know that a large amount of water to manufacture Somras which needs to be taken from river Saraswati and this is the reason for the depletion of Saraswati water.

Later, Shiva travels to hidden city Ujjain along with Brahspati and Kali to meet Gopal, the chief of Vasudev Pandits. He then says Shiva how a Vayuputra council had trained one of the tribe people and makes Neelkanth the evil. As the time passes, Shiva comes to know that Maharishi Brigu is the main mastermind behind the attacks on him and then was when all were prepared for a war.

During the war, the army of Branga Kashi and Vaishali stands on Shiva's side, while Kartik and Ganesh attacks on Ayodhya and prevents them from helping Melhua. Shiva captures the people and army who says Shiva does fraud and sends Parvateshwar and Brigu to fight with Melhuan Nagas on sati's army to defeat them.

Daksh plans to kill Shiva, send Vidyunmali and bring gyptian assassins. Later, Daksh signs a peace treaty with Sati in shiv's absence and fights with Assianss and gets killed by one of them. Shiva feels disheartened after hearing about it and after the completion of the war, with sati's death, Shiva becomes angry decides to use Puspathiastra to kill Devagiri. Then, Shiva releases the astra and finishes Devagiri's history along with all the Somaras manufacturing.

At the end, Shiv leaves to Kailash Mountains and spends a few days missing Sati. Meanwhile, Ganesh Kartik and Kali starts to address gods all over the country. However, Sati's death is never forgotten and India started addressing her as lord Shakti. Later, Somras is never manufactured in India and the Sarswati river has been added with Yamuna.
