Chapter 3: Lies...

One more drink , one more lie, what hurt would that cause?

With his shower done Dougie dragged himself to his room to get dried up & to find some clothing. He needed to be comfortable as he was about to sit on plane after plane for almost 24 hours to get from London to Sydney. With just a towel on he wondered around his room towards a mirrored cupboard where he opened the doors to see all his clothing in front of him. Should he wear jeans, shorts, joggers? He had no idea what to put on when his suddenly heard 'The best of me' by the startling line blast of his phone. He wondered towards it to see his manager Fletch's name.

Picking up the phone he answered 'Hey Fletch' . 'I just wanted to check you where up, I also need to talk to you' Fletch informed him. Dougie shuffled his feet around looking a bit nervous as to what he was about to be told. 'Yeah I'm up, whats wrong?' Dougie enquired. 'The guys have come to me, to be honest they are a bit worried about you, they have asked me to speak to you to make sure you are okay' Fletch told him . Dougie could tell that Fletch didn't like to do this but knew that he did care about him. 'Ive just had a few personal things going on but i'm good' Dougie replied to Fletch trying to sound like he was happy.

Inside of Dougie's mind was far from happy but the lies seemed to come out before he could be honest. 'As long as you are sure & this trip isn't too much' Fletch 'No, honestly Fletch, I'm all good & set to go. Well almost...' Dougie insisted. 'Why almost' Fletch questioned him. 'What the fuck am I meant to wear' Dougie joked. 'Erm clothing hopefully' Fletch joked back with him. 'Yeah but what? Do we need to look 100% perfect?' Can I wear joggers?' Dougie asked. 'Mate, as long as you are comfortable I wouldn't get hung up on that' Fletch reassured him. 'Alright, sorted then' Dougie said as he walked backer to the cupboard. 'Great, there will be a car coming for yourself & Nat at 8' Fletch said. 'Erm okay, Guess I'll see you at the airport then' Dougie said to Fletch as he rush to find a pair of boxers & walked towards his door. 'Yeah Dougie see you then' Fletch replied before hanging up the call.

Panic had set in to Dougie as he wasn't sure Nat was even awake. Unknown to Dougie she was. More than awake, she was showered, dressed & just packing up the last of the things she needed into her hand luggage. Dougie headed to her door & knocked on it' Nat, Nat' he said franticly. She opened the door to find her younger cousin stood in front of her looking all stressed out. 'Where is the fire' she asked. 'Fletch....car...8am' Dougie stuttered out his mouth. 'Do you mean Fletch has sent a car for us in for 8am?' She giggled. 'Yeah sorry, just panicked you were still sleeping' Dougie stated as he tried to calm himself down. ' Okay, I have a few things left to grab that are downstairs & I'm ready, want a quick coffee?' she said making her way to the stairs. 'Erm, yeah. I don't have much left to do' Dougie replied back as he walked back into his room.

Nat headed into the kitchen, placed her back onto the table & headed towards the kettle which she filled with water & put it on. While waiting on Dougie to get ready & calm down she grabbed her phone charger, laptop, extra hard drive & some other bits. The kettle whistled just as Dougie slid into the kitchen. Not 100% ready to go but they had about 20 mins left. Enough for Dougie to grab bits he needed & maybe sort his blonde shaggy hair that was now almost covering his eyebrows. Nat placed a cup of coffee in front of him as he tried to pull his socks on. 'Dude! Are you ever going to be ready' Nat joked around 'Yeah....I think'' Dougie giggled back.

The pair drank their coffee, ensured the had everything they needed all just as their car appeared outside the house. While they were away Dougie's mum would be looking after the house along side his sister Jazzie who was going to move in for a bit until they came back. Once they loaded everything into the car they needed including suitcases, 2 bass guitars & other bits they headed for the airport. The drive only took 20 minutes. Their flight was at around 12 o'clock but they had to be at the airport hours before. Finally Nat could see the airport. She suddenly felt sick & her anxiety was kicking in. Dougie was more like a little kid at the though of flying to Sydney even though it would take up to 24 hours in total.
