"I want to tell them today."
That text from Shiho sent Y/n to the rooftop of Shujin Academy to wait for classes to end. Y/n sat on top of an air duct, waiting until he heard the bell to signal the end of the day, unmoving like a statue. His casual attire was what you would expect from a businessman; a suit with no jacket and sleeves rolled up. The only difference was that Y/n's color palette matched that of the first Nishikiyama Family patriarch. He sat on the air duct, as he waited for the others to show. This gave him some time to reflect as the summer heat is subdued by a nice, cool breeze blowing just right to not be overbearing, yet not feel as though its absent.
"I wonder..." He started thinking. "How different would my life be, had I stayed by your side? Had I backed down from the challenge of climbing the waterfall?" Unconsciously, his head started disagreeing with the questions he posed to himself. "No. What's done is done. No use reflecting on the past. I was weak then and would have remained so to my, and their, detriment."
The final bell rung, alerting Y/n that Ann and Ryuji would come soon. Snapping himself back into reality upon hearing the door behind him open, stood up and faced them, his hands remaining in his pockets like he was afraid to show all of who he is.
"I'm surprised you actually showed up." Ryuji, unintentionally sounding like he held a grudge. "I didn't mean it like that—"
"I know." Y/n brushing off the non-intentional ill intent. "Despite being named after a fearsome creature, you don't have a single malicious bone in your body. At least, you don't have one without good reason."
"Do you know why Shiho wanted us to come today, Y/n?" Ann asked Y/n, who had more time to be with Shiho, so could know something in her mind.
"It's better if it came from her mouth."
"That doesn't sound good." Ryuji dreading the following conversation.
Speaking of that conversation, Shiho opened the door and joined her three friends on the roof. Though Ann quickly rushed her like a raging bull and Ryuji just as much, though with not as much urgency, Y/n was a bit hesitant and walked up to them as Ann enveloped Shiho in a bear hug.
"Ann..." Shiho was tapping out. "You're gonna put me in the hospital again..."
"Sorry!" Ann released her submission lock on Shiho, who took in a deep breath. Whether or not this is because of Ann's surprising strength in her arms or about what she wants to talk about, is only known to her. "So, what did you want to talk about Shiho?"
Shiho then looked at Y/n, expecting him to answer that question for her. Though, she was met with Y/n's cold and expectant gaze, as if he were telling her she needed to do this and not him.
"I'm transferring to a different school." Shiho started off. "Which means, I have to move."
Ann and Ryuji were a bit shocked, though it soon trailed off into melancholy. At some point, both knew Shiho's parents had to put as much distance between them from the place that almost took their daughter's life.
"That's why..." Shiho said in an upbeat tone, trying to eliminate the gloom of the room. "I wanted us to hang out one last time!"
The doom and gloom quickly left as happier feelings replaced them as Ryuji and Ann's smiles seemed to agree with Shiho's idea.
"We're wasting time up here." Y/n commented as he gently pushed aside Ryuji and Ann as he made a beeline for the door. Soon, they too joined him as they walked down the stairs to catch up.
