Chapter 1

Have you ever wonder what it feels like to be the other girl? Well to tell you, it isn’t the best feeling that you’ll ever have. I am Viola Pennington, I am sort of, kind of, well how am I going to say this.. I am in a hidden relationship with a guy who has a girlfriend, the real one. I know you must hate me for being the third party, but seriously give it to me who just fell in love with the wrong guy at a wrong time.

His name is Chase Hanister. It’s hard not to fell in love with this guy, he is the guy that can make you laugh even in worse scenarios, he can make you feel special in any way he wants. He is tall, sun kissed skin tone, and definitely handsome together with that awesome dimples that you can’t resist every time he smile. I just love the way his eyes twinkle whenever he looks at me with those pale blue orbs.  He is also gentleman, name it, he’s the complete package for me, but as we all know, there isn’t really a complete package. The fault in him is that he’s not that loyal, you know what I mean.

I remember the day when we met, it’s not the best meeting after all but worth the shot to be memorable. When I enrolled for the University with my friends, I didn’t exactly imagine having a relationship or a hidden affair. It all started when we went to have brunch at the near café across the University.

I happened to be really hungry after all the activities we had done for enrollment. When I entered the café, the magnificent smell hit my nostrils, mixture of coffee and baked goodies, and it kind of gave me a trance to go to the display corner where all the good stuff are in there. I’m a suck up for sweets. But one caught my attention.

“That one please!” My grin washed off my face as I looked at my side to see a guy pointing at the chocolate sansrival. I frowned at him.

“What?” He asked in an annoyed expression.

“Excuse me, I pointed at it first. So I’m gonna take it.” I said in a smug confidence.

“Uh, no, as you can see, little brat, it was me who called dibs on it.” I gaped at what he said. Who’s little brat is he talking?

“No I want that one!” I stomped my feet and looked at the worker for help with my please-give-it-to-me-cause-I’m-adorable-face.

“I’m sorry little missy, you gotta have some arrangement with this fella over here it’s the last one.” She said nonchalantly and I was about to correct her but she already walked away. Who are they calling little? I’m 5 feet 3 inches tall! That’s tall right?

“Look” He sigh. “That’s the favourite of my girlfriend and she’s sick right now so..can you just.. be generous or something?” He raised his eye brow at me. I crossed my arms and shaked my head.

“No can do mister “who do you think you are.” I. want. That. Got it? I feel sorry for your girlfriend but she’s not here to defend her priced thing so I win.” I turned around feeling slightly proud of myself that I actually stood up for just a piece of cake. I’m not really that mean or greedy but I’m just hungry.

I paid for the cake at the cashier at the same time the guy paid for another cake. He muttered ‘brat’ at my side and I muttered back, ‘jerk’. We both looked at each other and raised an eyebrow. Without any words, we retreated from each other to different directions.

“What took you so long?” My friend Scotty asked.

“Ugh.. you know stuck up in a long line there.” He looked behind me and his eyebrow furrowed.

“Oh.. a long line it is, just.. one customer..?” I shrug and ate my cake.’

I thought that will be the last time I will be seeing that guy but boy I was wrong. When I got to my first class, I was late of course thanks to my not so lazy twin brother, so I just sat at the back. It took me a while to notice that someone sat beside me. I guess this is going to be the “first day at school so 1st seatmate turned bestfriend thing.” When I look at my seatmate to greet her cause I thought she was a girl, to my disappointment, it was a he and not just any guy by coincidence but that jerk guy from the café.

“You?!” We both shouted at each other.

“What are you doing here?” I asked him a little bit harsh.

“What do you mean, what am I doing here? As you know, this is a school so I am here to study.” He smirked at me. What an idiot.

“Well, there are a lot of classes that are in this school, so why are you in all of the places are in my class and seated next to me?” I crossed my arms trying to look intimidating.

“Well.. I don’t know maybe it’s fate, you little blubby.” He snickered and winked at me. I was taken aback by what he said.

“well, I don’t know.. maybe you are just stalking me or something.” I shrug and cock my head at one side.

“Believe me I’d rather spent my time wisely than stalk you.” He kind of emphasized the words, wisely and stalk.

“whatever.” I rolled my eyes and turned back to the front.

Well, this isn’t an expected second meeting for us. I never expected to see him again. Who would want to see such an arrogant, self centered, not so gentleman guy like him. Worst, I am seated next to him. Could this be more ironic?

I can’t wait for this class to end, why is the time so slow when you really wanted it to be as fast as the lightning. Ugh, Ok, just chill, I’m sure he won’t do anything to provoke me or irritate me. So all I gotta do is pretend that he is not around and he is not he’s sitting beside me.

That definitely didn’t work, I heaved a sigh for the last time I tried to ignore him.

“Will you stop tapping your pencil for the last time?” I half whisper/ shout at him. And again, he just scowled at me. Is he really doing that on purpose? What a total Jerk face.

I returned my attention to our professor who is still orienting us on what to expect in this subject. Now to think of it, I should focus on my studies and make the most out of it. 3 more years and I’ll be done with this school stuff and then I can start looking for a job and travel around the world. I can’t wait for the travel part. Different places, different people and culture. Food, there’s a lot of specialties around the world, gosh it is my 3rd most love in the world. I sigh in contentment.

“Day dreaming aren’t we little brat?” That got me out of my reverie. I must have looked like a fool. I scowled at the smug look that jerk face has. Just ignore him, he’ll just shut up when he’s tired of fooling around.

“It’s alright to daydream on this gorgeous creature.” He said that while gesturing to his body. Ugh gosh, can he be more conceited and narcissistic? I narrowed my eyes on him.

“Excuse me, but do I know you?” I asked him sweetly and when the smugness in his face morphed into a state of shock, I got the triumph I was aiming at. Although he quickly recovered, I still made him look like a fool. I heard a sigh of resignation in him. This must be good.

“Alright, I know I’m not really your favourite person right now but why can’t you? I mean..” I just stared at him blankly and bored. Not really caring unto what he is saying he must’ve felt it because again he gave up and heaved a heavy sigh then looked at me straight in the eyes.

“Okay here we gp.. Hi, I’m Chase Hanister, I’m new to this school so I’d really like to have a new friend and you are?” he held out his hands and smiled at me. My eyes trailed at his genuine smile, I mean breath taking smile. Boy was he gorgeous… Viola! Stop ogling him. I blinked at his out stretched hand and I also did the same but when our hands connected I felt electricity running through my veins but I didn’t mind it.

“I’m Viola Pennington.” I quickly retreated my hand not wanting to feel that electricity anymore. Maybe he noticed it because he was chuckling beside me.

“I believe we haven’t me before. Let’s just have a fresh start.” What is he..? Oh he wanted to forget our first meeting. Alright if he wanted it that way, so be it. This is interesting.
