Introduction
I walked outside and the fall breeze whipped my face. I could hear the trees call my name. As I reached the last step, I never thought it would be the last time my feet touched them.
Chapter 1
"She is missing, John." Carrie Full said to her husband.
"What are we to do? The police said there is no trace of anything criminally related. She is probably with Tara." my father assured her. Tara is my sisters best friend who lives in Corsonville, a very rich neighborhood.
I finally had the courage to walk downstairs. My eyes were red and puffy from when I found out that my sister, Jessie had gone missing. "I..um..need a drink", I said wearily. Before I made it to the kitchen, my step-mother had me in a huge embrace. I shoved her off, not wanting to be touched.
"Carrie! Don't touch me! I don't need or want you! Just leave me alone!" I screamed in blazing hot anger.
"Tatum!? She is now your family and you will treat her as such!" my father said in a harsh tone. Carrie just stood behind him with hateful eyes, shaking her head like a wet dog. Exactly what she was: a bitch.
I laughed at the thought, but I knew I had messed up when my father said, "You will be staying with NaNa."
"What?!" I scream.
"She will be happy to have you. It might ease the pain from Jessie." Carrie smiled triumphantly.
My eyes glowed with anger and I stormed upstairs. I knew which NaNa he was talking about and she wasn't my NaNa. She was Carrie's mom.
