I'm on a mission to finish this war,to do what we think is right. We need to free the slaves from the germans. My squad is on the edge of the battlefield in Berlin, Germany. We are going down to the battlefield, if we camp then we can fight in the moring. Axle, Boris, Stephan, the others and I, have no heat from a fire or they will find our camp, so we are freezing. We are taking turns on guarding through the night I volunteered to go first with Axle. Boris and Stephan are going to sleep. During our hours Axle heard movement in the leaves and causiously woke up Boris and Stephan, they were confused and they pointed their M14's at the edge of the darknes. Eight German soldiers came out and started to blind fire at us from behind some trees. We started firing back after Stephan lead us behind the wood pile next to our tent. One bullet hit the side of Boris's helmet and made a big PING,he looked like he was frightened and blank . Axle got the last two german soldiers, then the silence fell.

"Boris are you alright" Stephan asks.

He dosn't awnser and sits their in shock. W put him in his bed and Axle and Stephan started their shift. So I decided to go to bed.

Axle and Stephan woke me and Boris up at three o'clock to get an early head start to go to the battlefield. More of our troops will be coming soon to help fight the german and the japanese.

"Look at all of those soldiers" I whispered.

"we'll have to be careful,to not get spotted, This way."

We move to the edge of the battle field.

Axle exclaimed "come on lets go to that trench."

So we all move quietly and quickly, the trench was covered in barbed wire on the opposite side on the outside. I continuing following the trench with Axle,Boris, and Stephan, and the others their is still a little ways to get as far as it goes, I hop out of the trench with Boris and Axle and Stephan and the others. We all notice that there was a shadow over us and looked up, there was a big broken down tower in the left hand side of the field.

"Let's get to cover" says Stephan.

So we all run over to the building and just lean against it to catch the breath that we lost from a quick sprint. We back away from it to go to a different trench that had four layers of sacked sandbags in front of it, we jog there without being seen by the soldiers far behind the building.

"Hey sie über ihr, komm sind (Hey their over their, come on!)"

Then we all notice that they hear a heavy engine running, and thought it could only mean one thing. A tank model F5-165 came rolling around the corner spotting the area to see if it is secure. The tanker was aiming at the sand bags even though no one was there and shot at them, it went right through causing the bags to go flying everywhere with thick sand spilt everywhere, it was very loud it took me a minute or two to get my hearing back. We quickly ran out before the dust cleared.

"Over there" I said

There was more of our troops heading for us were the tank shot, and we caught up to them .

They say "follow us"

So we ran around the building without being spotted then we ran around the trenches and there was random piles of sand.

"STOP, they are landmines" Hynes yells.

The germans soldiers came up on the field across from us and started to run on the field that has the landmines. They started to blow up through the field, as one of them started to fire everywhere.

"Take cover" I scream.

We started to run back towards cover and I feel a pain at the back of my shin, and the pain is growing until it feels like someone stabbed me with a knife and twisted it and I drop to the ground and start to crawl behind the wall. After I was behind cover, they were pushing the wound as they were trying to patch it up, it hurt so much I screamed as quiet as I could but it still seemed very loud.

They were all saying that "you are going to be ok." in a confident way.

I saw the blood and the wound and started to panic. I saw my life flash before my eyes. I feel colder from moving so much, I feel a rush of blood leave my body. They bandaged it but I could still feel blood rushing away. Axle and Stephan bring me to our camp that is behind the battle field opposite of the german base. I just slowly close my eyes and try to stay calm, but then feel cold, with my eyes sealed shut unable to open.

I wake up in a bed in our main camp and see that standing next to me was Axle,Stephan, and Hynes every one but Boris. They told me that they freed the prisoners of war and blew up the germans base, and all of the fighting stopped the war was over.

"But....Boris didn't make it, he risked his life for us to get to the base" Stephan said sadly.

I looked down at the ground and thought about our childhood ihave know him since grade one. My eyes started to tear and I quickly wiped them.

"So are you ready for the medal ceremony" Stephan asked trying to change the subject.

I tried to get up and walk but my wound it still not healed enough to be able to walk on it. Axle grabs me a wheel chair and slowly pushes me to the ceremony to the ceremony. Stephan's name got called for the bravest soldier medal, then Boris's name got called as well and the warrent told a speech. Then Axle and Hynes got awarded the look out medal for looking out for eachother the whole time. Also later on i have ranked up Iam now a sargent.

Later that night we got to go home, and everyone was talking about how happy their family will be to see them. Then I thought about my parents reactions and then I couldn't wait to get home. I get to my driveway and stand at the end looking at home seeing if I remember it the same, I walk in and my mom and dad run to greet me like it was our first visit in fourty years.

I gave them the biggest hug I could and said "I missed you so much."

Many years after that I was still in the military and went on training, but not to far from home.
