Mission 4-2-7

Shaun and Elise

Alex's head hurt like it never had before. She finally understood how people felt when they said their mind was clouded. She couldn't think straight or remember where she was, what she was doing or anything.

She let out a small groan.

"Alex", Someone said, "Hey are you okay?"

Alex was getting nervous. It never took her this long to clear her mind, but for some reason she just couldn't think.

Alex struggled and opened her eyes. Everything looked fuzzy but she could see three or four people standing over her.

"Hey Alex,'' A deep voice said, "Miss me?"

It took Alex a minute to place the voice, but when she did she couldn't help but groan.

"I hate you Michael and Marco", Alex mumbled, "What the heck did you do to me? I never take this long to clear my head."

"It's a new method I'm working with", Michael said, "Poison."

"Really?", Alex asked, trying to clear her head.

"Yep", Michael said, "And I think it works pretty well."

"It does", Shaun said, "Alex you never answered my question, did you miss me?"

"Not even a little bit" Alex said.

"You're lying", Shaun said, "You did miss me."

"Nope", Alex said sitting up unsteadily, "I didn't miss you."

Shaun smiled at her and said, "Sure... you didn't miss me. What have you been up to since the team broke up?"

Alex shook her head and said, "A little of this and a little of that. I spent a while on Montis with a friend."

"Fun", Shaun said, "I relaxed on the beaches in Othia for a while, then joined up with the resistance."

"Never could stay away from a fight for long."Alex mumbled struggling to take control of her mind.

"Are you talking about yourself?", Shaun asked.

"Ha ha, very funny,'' Alex said.

"Back off Shaun", a familiar feminine voice said.

Alex's eyes shot open, "Elise!" she shouted jumping off of the bed and over to her friend.

"Hey", Elise said, giving Alex a hug, "Good to see you too."

"How did you find us?"Alex asked with a smile.

Elise rolled her eyes, "I know how to find Griffin", Elise said, "I tracked her unique computer presence. It's complicated but once I got your message I followed the trail you left and tracked you."

Alex nodded, " impressive."

"It's my specialty" Elise said, "Griffin is fun to track."

"Can you track down the rest of the team?" Alex asked, walking slowly out of the room.

Elise acted offended and asked, "Do you doubt my skills?"

Alex spun around to face Elise and sarcastically said, "Me doubt you.. Never!"

Elize chuckled and rolled her eyes, "Sure..."

"Come on," Alex said, pulling Elise to the command center.

Shaun started after them.

"Shaun", Michael called, "Come back here for a second."

Shaun turned and studied Michael, "Yea Doc", he said.

"Give Alex a couple of days", Michael said, "Something is up with her. She's more... restless and emotional... than usual."

Shaun nodded, "I'll keep that in mind."

"I'm serious Shaun" Michel warned, "You mess with her and my wrath will come down on you."

"Got it Doc," Shaun said, "Your wrath, don't mess with Alex, no problem."

Shaun hurried out of the room.

Marco shook his head and stepped out of the corner where he had safely been hidden away.

"I'm glad Elise was here," he said, "Or I'm pretty sure Alex would have done more than just tell us she hated us."

"You and me both," Michael responded.

In the control center

Alex and Elise were bent over a computer.

"Who do you want to find next?" Elise asked, "Oscar?"

"No!" Alex exclaimed thinking of the fighter who considered himself to be the greatest man alive and believed all women should fawn over him, "We'll find him last."

"Good choice", Elise chuckled, "What about Nakesha?"

Alex rolled her eyes and said, "Are you serious? Your prioritization skills need some work. We get the muscle last."

"Nakesha's not muscle", Elise said, "You just don't like her because she fancies Shaun."

Alex punched Elise's arm, "Not true!" she exclaimed.

"Come on Alex," Elise said, "I know you better than that."

Alex rolled her eyes and said, "I just don't like Nakesha because she's a self absorbed brat."

"And she throws herself at every man she sees." Elise said.

Garth walked into the control center at that moment.

"Umm Elise", he said, "Where is the nearest toilet?"

"Down the hall, third door on the right," Elise answered.

"Thanks," Garth mumbled and hurried down the hall.

Both girls burst out laughing.

"How about we find Cameron and Bruce?" Elise asked, "They're never far apart."

"That sounds great," Alex said, "I could use some help to get the ship up to date."

"Alright," Elise said, "I'll start tracking them and get back to you when I come up with anything. I'm also going to look for Melissa. We could use another pilot."

"And a well trained assassin is always handy." Alex said.

Elise grinned.
