« i must stay conscious, through the madness and chaos »

house = gryffindor

beneath her feet, she could feel the thick hedge squirming and trying to wrap itself around her legs. kicking them away, she carried on running. she didn't know where, her options were slowly fading away as she squinted her eyes for any sight of the glowing triwizard cup. nothing.

when y/n's name was pulled out of the goblet, her whole world seemed to crumble. her friends distanced themselves to shield their hearts from the pain of loss, her boyfriend had left her for the aforementioned reason and her fellow students constantly shot her glances full of sympathy and sorrow.

it wasn't a surprise that it was pulled out, due to the fact that she was an incredible quidditch player, her grades were almost always top of the class and she was known for being brave and admirable. secretly, everybody was glad that she was picked - hogwarts might have a good chance of winning if she was in the competition.

however, when the hall had settled and hushed, the goblet began to splutter and bubble - another charred piece of parchment flying out.
at first, dumbledore was rather furious. but as he read the name out, his anger seemed to be transferred to snape - who bellowed angrily at the boy. draco malfoy.
turns out one of his fellow slytherins threw his name in as a joke, clearly not expecting anything like this to happen.

never had either of them imagined to survive the first task, let alone make it to the third and final one.
it was between y/n l/n, draco malfoy and viktor krum.
she'd heard a low, blood-curdling scream a while back - could've been hours ago, perhaps a few minutes, maybe even a matter of seconds. she had no idea anymore. this maze was playing wicked tricks on her mind.

after a while of aimlessly running she stopped, hands on her knees and breathing so heavily that she felt her lungs weren't big enough. they were burning at this point, every intake of air strangling her. y/n's cheeks were painted with light crimson as she caught her breath. a pathetic whimper left her mouth, she gripped her wand and a small droplet of water escaped her eye. she had two options - carry on and hunt for the cup through this godforsaken maze, or she point her wand to the sky, sending off a blinding red flare.

slowly, she raised her wand, debating for a few seconds more.
"no." she whispered to herself.
she's a gryffindor, and a proud one at that. gryffindor's are strong, they're brave. they aren't meant to give up at one tiny slither of danger.
carefully, she looked down at her red and black sweater and lowered her wand, taking a long, deep breath.

off she went, speeding down another passageway, she had no idea where she was planning on going. however, she didn't really care.
find the cup or die trying, she repeated to herself countless amounts of times.

darkness fell upon the maze as soon as the klaxon had sounded deafeningly at the very start. mist grew higher and higher with every passing minute and she wasn't sure how long the heavy clouds above would hold the rain off.
a pestering pain began throbbing in her legs as she turned the hundredth corner. but suddenly, a glimmer of silver caught her eyes from the end of the passageway. the cup.
she'd found it. she'd actually found it.

despite the tiring pain in her limbs, she raced towards the illumination. stumbling a few times whilst she sprinted forward, ducking under the low branches as the cup got closer and closer.
