When you find someone, someone that you love, you hold on to them. You never want to let go. You think that nothing will ever rip you away from them no matter what. Until their gone at least....

Derek was the love of my life and even though we started out rough we never gave up on each other. He loved me until the day he died and I loved him. I never wanted to say goodbye and when I did, my whole world changed forever.

5 years later

There was a small breeze in the air, alerting Seattle fall was approaching. I tried to hurry up as fast as I could because I was late for work yet again. I walked through the hospital doors out of breath and immediately tried to find Jo. Jo was sitting with one of Alex's old patients when I found her.

"Hey what's going on?" I said almost completely out of breath.

"Nothing in particular. We have been having a pretty slow day. Mary James was asking for you. She wanted to thank you for her successful liver transplant." Jo said her smile lighting up the little hospital room.

I found Mary's file, thanked Jo and headed towards her room. As I was looking over Mary's file I felt a slight tap on my shoulder. To my surprise it was Teddy. She smiled at me and said, "Hey I just thought you should know there was a letter with your name on it sitting on the attending lounge's table."

"Really? I have not been in there yet. After I examine Mary I'll pick it up." I said confused as ever.

After giving Mary her exam, I walked over to the lounge to check the table. Sure enough an envelope laid there with my name on it. I picked it up and read the address. The name was all smudged, most likely from traveling. I could just make out the zip code. I did not know it, so I pulled out my phone and searched it up. The zip code was from Washington, d.c.
I was puzzled. I did not know anyone from D.C. I decided to open the letter anyways. When i opened it there was a nicely folded piece of paper. I unfolded it carefully and when I saw the picture my heart almost stopped. There sitting right in front of me was a picture of the Seattle Ferry Boat. The exact one Derek used to ride.
