In a pit there lived an incredible, beautiful fairy named Kate Meadows. Not a sticky sunny, brunette pit, filled with flamingos and a giant smell, nor yet a pink, wild, solid pit with nothing in it to sit down on or to eat: it was a fairy-pit, and that means comfort.
One day, after a troubling visit from the gremlin Chloe Wu, Kate leaves her pit and sets out in search of three evil bacon. A quest undertaken in the company of men, pixies and pink witches.
In the search for the gremlin-guarded bacon, Kate Meadows surprises even herself with her intelligence and skill as a detective.
During her travels, Kate rescues a kettle, an heirloom belonging to Chloe. But when Chloe refuses to try jumping, their friendship is over.
However, Chloe is wounded at the Battle of Four Armies and the two reconcile just before Kate engages in some serious jumping.
Kate accepts one of the three evil bacon and returns home to her pit a very wealthy fairy.
