Hey.
I know I always start these with the same thing, the whole "it's been a while, blah blah blah".
And honestly, that's cause a lot can happen in a year. And it did.
Good and bad things.
So yeah, lemme fill you in.
~
1.
I never got along with my dad, especially not after coming out as trans. I had moved out of my dad's place to live with my mum back in 2016, but due to some personal issues, I had to stay with my Nanna (Dad's mum) full time around 2018.
She and dad, around July 2019, convinced me to move back to dad's to help him take care of his dad, my Opa, who only had a couple more months left.
So I did.
And while there, my dad and I just didn't get along at all.
I was working almost everyday at shifts from around 12 to sometimes 10 at night at the fuel station down the road, so naturally I would sometimes be in bed till about 9-10 in the morning, which just pissed him off for some reason.
We got into huge arguments and he was extremely abusive to me, to the point that, one day, I called my mum and asked to stay at hers for the night and he threatened to not let me come back and that he would throw out all of my stuff.
Anyway, long story short, I ended up moving to Perth to live with my older sister and her boyfriend.
So yeah. Still haven't talked to him since.
2.
My name changed to Griffin, or just Finn.
This happened back in February while my mum and I were in Thailand, literally days before the whole pandemic started.
We spent a full day in the hotel room, just chilling, and mum was equipped with her notebook and pen, while I laid down watching Netflix, and calling out potential names she could think of.
She wanted Finn William (William being her dad's middle name too), so we agreed on Griffin William (cause I like Griffin, though my original plan was Phoenix or something).
Funnily enough, we were also in Thailand because I wanted top surgery. And I got it.
So yeah.
I no longer have boobs. And it feels fucking amazing.
I spent 5 days in the hospital (which was terrible for my anxiety but they had the best Wi-Fi ever and I just binged Kuroko No Basket on Netflix cause Thailand has SO MUCH ANIME compared to the scarcity in Aus).
Mum was even there to watch them unwrap my bandage and remove the tubes and stitches, which I think she instantly regretted 😅😅
3.
We got back from Thailand on the 16th Feb, and, low and behold, I got a call from the hospital about a consultation with a doctor about HRT.
Literally the next day, I met a doctor and got my first shot. I'm now 8 months on T, like 🙌
It all just happened at once and I was honestly overwhelmed.
4.
In July (or August maybe), Mum came back down to Perth on her way south and offered to take me with her. And I'm not gonna say no to a road trip.
However, she surprised me by bringing up name changes and gender markers. She had all the forms prepared, so once we got back to Perth, we went and got my name changed.
Legally. (As of when I'm writing this, I just got my new drivers license and other new cards with my new name and it's amazing)
The gender markers are a little more complicated, it seems. You have to get a permission letter or some shit from some Council of Elrond, or something, before you can apply for gender marker changes.
So haven't done that yet.
Anyway, it's getting late (it's currently 1:40am).
So I'll see you in the next update I guess.
~ Griffin
(My scar is not quite this red anymore, but yeah.)
