What would you do if your family forced you into a quirk marriage?
That's the reality that Sami was coming to terms with
Ruby sat quietly beside her sister. She could tell the mood was tense and fearful. So staying quiet seemed best. She was scrolling through different food dishes, almost seeming mindless.
Sami looked over at her sister, watching her finger wave past several images of different meals.
"Are you going through different dietary plans again?" Sami teased, tried to break the tension and her sisters nervous stance.
Ruby had stuffed her phone back in her side-purse, embarrassed, like a little kid that got caught
"Oh! Well, yeah. I want to make sure I'll like my choices...I mean, it all looks good. So I don't think I'll have an issue." She twiddled her fingers, "plus I was also trying to learn the layout of the city..."
Sami smiled as Ruby tried her best to take her own responsibilities into her own hands.
"I think our new family can help us do that, so don't worry." She gently ruffled Ruby's hair, slowly getting more rough, giggling in the process, knowing exactly what she was doing.
Ruby gasped, "Sami! My bun! It'll come undone!"
Ruby tried to grab her hands away as she laughed. Her hair was becoming a messy bun now, but her smile and laughter never faded.
Sami opened her mouth, about to warn Ruby about being on her best behavior, before the pilot came over the intercom.
"Ladies and gentlemen please return to your seats and fasten your seatbelts, we will soon be landing in the Musutafu Airport. Thank you." Her tone was short sweet and to the point.
Ruby took a long deep breath, "It feels like that 11 hours was SOOO quick!" She laughed as she looked out the window, gently kicking her feet, "it's dark out. Wow! it's nighttime already here?" She said as she frantically typed on her phone for the time-zone check.
That flight felt too short... Sami thought, biting the inside of her lip, her stomach felt like it was coiling tighter and tighter, and a hint of nausea set in like a wave of the ocean they could barely make out below.
I need to calm down. If I continue to stress like this, then I'll crack in front of them... Sami'd seen pictures of Endeavor, Enji Todoroki, before. The amount of hatred in that mans eyes made her somewhat sick.
Ruby smiled as she saw more of the city, "I wish I could meet that boy who flung into action all those months ago! He's probably so cool! I bet he's in a hero school." She said, as she read the newly translated article.
"Woah, you think we can meet All Might!? We will be living with Endeavor..." Ruby's eyes swelled with excitement about maybe meeting the number one hero of her new home country.
"Maybe so. There's so much I want to say..." Sami smiled, recalling fond memories as she looked at her hands.
The plane landed smoothly as the pilot came back over the intercom:
"Alright folks, we have landed in Musutafu safely, please wait for your flight attendant to open your rows and exit calmly. Thank you for flying with Beta." Her monotone speech slowly concluded, exhaustion plaguing her tone.
Ruby smiled and unbuckled her seatbelt as she picked her backpack up, "That was awfully dull, don't you think?" She looked at Sami as she gathered her own items.
Her sisters silence only irked Ruby more.
"Makes you wonder if the guy who's supposed to pick us up is actually here..." Ruby trailed off, quietly glancing out the window one last time.
