David|One day earlier
"You're going to I-Island?! Since when?!" Sapphire asked, her face visibly shocked.
A peaceful evening lay itself over the abandoned warehouse the League of Villains now properly resided in, and the rather sparse area it occupied glowed a brilliant orange with the horizon in front of it fading into a deeper shade of red. Night was approaching. Much sooner than they had thought, but after living in a neglected building left behind by those who once worked in it a long time ago, it became rather easy to tell what time of the day it was. Or at least, it was for the ex-pro.
It had been eleven days since the league first moved into the warehouse, with most of it being properly cleaned out and made somewhat more welcoming thanks to David and Sapphire's joint efforts. No fights have broken out, thankfully, and no heroes made any attempt to investigate the lonesome structure and its "peculiar" residents. David sat atop the flat roof of the structure that overlooked the forested area in front of him, he could hear the sounds of civilisation in the distance, and his mother sat next to him. He had just got done revealing what actually happened after his visit to Kiyashi Ward Shopping Mall, including who he met and what it was he was supposed to be doing in the coming days.
It was odd, even to David.
"I can't say for certain, but the boss wants me to collect something for him, and I'm not talking about Shigaraki. For all he knows, I'm just leaving for a day or two. Other than that? Your guess is as good as mine." David sighed. To this day the purpose of his journey was still shrouded in a thin cloud of mystery, but he was hopeful things would come to light eventually.
Sapphire's black eyes looked down, processing the sudden information her son revealed to her. "And this... Wolfram guy, what do you think of him?" Sapphire asked.
"I don't trust him if that's what you're suggesting. The man suddenly shows up and I'm expected to help him with God knows what, not too sure what to think of that." David said as he inspected one of his green tendrils.
"Do you know what his quirk is?" Sapphire asked as she tilted her head. David shook his head.
"Anything relating to him, both normal and meta-like? Not a damn clue." David sighed in frustration, not having the right answers was definitely an annoyance to him. "What I want to know though, is what you think about it. You're an ex-pro, right? Surely you must have some experience in dealing with criminal groups like his."
In response, Sapphire yawned and laid her back against the cold concrete roof they sat on, brushing her long orange hair to the side. "Ever since All Might came along, criminal organisations have always been living in near-constant surveillance. Not much to fight when you're dealing with an endangered species of villains. Bottom line? They're opportunistic bastards, only caring about themselves or their survival in the current world. You taking part in this thing means they have some sort of use for you, but never go expecting you're safe. Always, and I mean always, watch your back. You'll never know when your ticket might get punched, before it's too late." Sapphire explained.
The wind began to pick up as they both sat there, but it was nothing David wasn't used to. He turned around and looked at his mother with a confused look. "You're saying I should always watch my back then? Even if these same guys were employed by Shigaraki's 'master'?" David asked.
Sapphire sat up and adjusted her jacket. "What I'm saying is prepare for the worst. You're a newbie to them, they don't exactly know what you're capable of. You can try and build up trust, sure, but in the end it's only for that mission only." Sapphire said, and David slowly nodded in acknowledgment.
