The End

Heku glanced at the fire as he sharpened his axes. He looked down both blades to see if they were sharp enough. Just to make sure he ran his finger along one of the blades, slicing his finger open. He licked the blood off the blade and his finger. He looked around the classroom noticing the other Aile were watching him.

"What?" He growled at the students, and everyone turned away except for Emilia. She studied every move he did. "What?"

"Why are you so rude?" She said still studying him.

"I'm not the rude one here. Everyone is staring at me, not the other way around," His wings were opening up on his back as if he were about to pounce. "And just worry about yourself."

"I'm not going to let you be rude and intimidate everyone," She was calm and collected while Heku was ready to throw his axe at her.

His muscles flexed as he threw both axes at a quarter of his strength. His hands glowed a dark red for a split second before the axes left his hands. Before the weapons hit her she moved out of the way of the blades.

"You really think you can hurt me with that lazy attack of yours," She laughed sarcastically. "You need to try harder to hurt me."

He grinned as he stuck out his hand casually causing the axes to come flying back at him. "Guess again."

Her eyes widened as she knew she couldn't move in time. She closed her eyes accepting her fate, waiting for the blades to come crashing into her skull. They never did.

"I wouldn't actually hurt someone like you," He laughed with victory.

"You could've killed me, but you didn't. Why?" She stuttered thinking he was a killer that killed anyone and everyone.

"I don't kill for sport or for fun. I only kill when I need to or when I'm hungry. Otherwise I'm a terrible Aile, and I don't need that trouble," His voice had a slight growl to it. While Emi's was more light and soft. "See you tomorrow, Emi."

He flew off into the light of day leaving his classroom and classmates behind.

As he soared through the sky, he felt the wind in his hair, and the heat of the sun. He soaked in the warmth of the sun. He looked across the forest filled land, and flew towards the snowy mountains.

He landed on an edge near the top of the mountain. It was cold but also calming. The wind picked up the loose flakes of snow, carrying them down the steep slopes.

Heku grabbed the journal strapped to his side, opening to the 26th page.

He wrote: School was different today than any other day. Someone(Emi) stood up to me knowing they could get hurt, but yet Emi still stood her grounds. She also was asking a lot of questions. Which was kind of annoying but that's for another day. She watched me the whole time we talked not letting her guard down. She is still scared of me. Now she knows how I kill, so she might not be as scared. All I know is that she isn't who people think she is. She is someone that is also very powerful, but why is she here? And what does she want? That's the true question.

He spread his wings out letting the air cool him. Most people would have flown away by now, but he stayed put. His hands glowed a bright red causing the snow to melt.

"Time for me to get something to eat," He whispered.

He ran and jumped off the cliff. His wings opened up letting him glide down to safety. When he landed he started to run through the trees and thick brush trying to find his meal.

"There you are," He laughed quietly to himself. He watched the Aile by a river's edge. The Aile turned in Heku's direction. He ducked and threw one of his axes at the adult. He heard a scream, and the sound of the axe colliding with the Aile's head. He looked up and saw a limp adult Aile sitting there lifeless.

"Why did you kill her?" Emi yelled at Heku, startling him.

"She is my meal," He walked over to the corpse, and sank his teeth into her neck.

"Get away from her!" Emi yelled again as he drank the blood of the Aile.

His hands glowed slightly burning the back of the corpse. The glowing color was a dark red, and the more blood he drank, the brighter the glow got.

"Stop Heku!" Emi grabbed his arm trying to pull him away. He shrugged her off. "Heku! Please stop!"

He released his teeth from the limp body. "Fine. I'll stop."

Emi pulled him away from the corpse. She turned to face him to search for answers. "Why?"

"I told you. I kill for defense and hunger, nothing else," He was annoyed by the fact she asked him such an obvious question. "Can I go now?"

"I want answers," She was demanding, and wasn't going to let him leave.

"I'll tell you," He sighed with compliance, sitting down on a nearby log.
