Falling

(Note: Just because I'm writing this does not mean I'm contemplating it. Also if you find yourself contemplating, come talk to me. Please, I'm great at listening and would be honored to help you in any way I can. Thank you for caring.)

I sigh closing my eyes, its peaceful up here. No people jostling eachother on the side walk with no regard for anyone but themselves. No brilliant and blinding lights marking and labeling everything as corporate property. Only the barest traces of traffic. Up here its just me and the stars above the city. Up here the bitter cold cuts like a knife leaving me numb where as on the streets it would nip and tear and leave me shivering.

The wind tugs me and I sway gently. Are you ready? It seems to ask. Almost. Just a little longer.

I slip a frozen hand into my pocket and pull out a worn photograph. Two girls smile at me their arms around eachother, the sun shines through the trees in the back ground. It was summer, we were happy. I smile sadly at the picture and gently stroke the brunette on the right. "I'll see you soon." Pulling out a pen I write on the back in shaky letters "You killed us by turning away" then stuff both back in my pocket.

I take a deep breath and step up on the ledge. I had already left my note explaining to my parents and sister why I was doing this. They wouldn't find it until the morning though. Another deep breath and I let it out in a sigh. I close my eyes and lean.

The wind rushes around me whipping my hair across my face. There is no sound but the beating of my heart. I am weightless but I am falling. I can feel the wind turning me like gentle hands pushing me towards my destination.

There is no pain. I open my eyes, I am on my back on the side walk, she is standing over me with a sad smile. "I missed you." She whispers.
