Greenery shook her head left to right not in the mood for this on this day, definitely having woken up on the wrong side of the bed. She locked the gate behind her before tracking towards the car standing just before the gate, loud music played out loud making her sigh as she passed the car, walking as if it was not there. She thought of how Bash would not give up really but in a way it touched her showing how he was concerned with her safety even after she had blew whatever they had going on. Her hands slid into her pocket never having missed someone so much, missed the sound of his voice that she had been so accustomed to, missed that smile that sent her knees weak yet she knew there was no good that could come from day dreaming about Bash for he was not hers to dream about and he would never be. Bash was just too good for her, even if she had not gone all psycho at him she would have never had a chance, the two of them were just on different circles of life.
She blinked, the sun scotching hot even at such early hours sweat already collecting on her forehead as she tracked down the dirt road, the car following her behind.
"Just save both of our time and get in the car." Zeb barked, the window open the music turned down.
Greenery shook her head weighing her options feeling like a bitch for ignoring him so she turned looking at the car as it slowed down with her opening the door, climbing up, sitting comfortably, pulling on the seat belt and buckling up.
"Morning."
"Morning." He said back, the car taking off, leaving a cloud of dust behind as she sat back, hand in face with nails in mouth chewing and chewing, watching the trees fly by the sides of the car. Her body weighed down in exhaustion, feet swollen from the long work hours and such little sleep. She sighed, a headache tearing at her, wanting to just close her eyes and drift off but holding herself for she was scared that if she even closed her eyes for just a minute they would not open anytime soon. The town was buzzing at this point, parents taking their children to school and stores opening as they passed quickly crossing the town boarders being met by more and more cars driving through the city, taking the turn to school with no conversation in the car as they pulled up in the college parking.
"Thank you but please, you don't have to fetch me every day. I am sure you have other things you would rather be doing. Thank Sabastian for me but please tell him to just stop." Greenery said, trying so hard to not sound harsh yet she actually was. She did not know if it was the lack of sleep and the killer exhaustion but she felt like punching someone today.
The door on her side opened as she slid out and closed it. Her eyes took the young male sitting in the driver's seat, shaking his head probably pissed himself. With nothing more to say the seventeen year old girl turned, walking off to her school grounds where cars were pulling off to drop their kids. Her hands grabbed on the belts of her bag, her eyes taking in the parents hugging their children goodbye, mothers kissing their children and wishing them a good day. It could not help but hurt, she would never have that. That was not her life and it had never been. Her father's job had always kept him away and she had practically been all by herself for as long as she could remember. All she had had were her friends which were poison themselves but who else did she have?
Greenery kept her head down, walking to her locker which she opened, slipping in the books she had taken home the previous day then taking out those she would need this morning. The noise in the halls got louder and louder with more and more people arriving. A student went around pasting posters on the walls which had her curious so she waited until the girl left before walking over and reading. It was the drama club and there were auditions. Her hand went up, touching the paper before shaking her head and walking away. She did not have time for extra curriculum, she did not have time for anything and her life felt like death itself. Swallowing, she head for the Bio class in D40. The morning passed followed by an uneventful lunch and soon she was sitting in her chair, books filling her desk as she wrote the assignment that she wanted so bad to submit today but as she checked the time on her phone it seemed to get away from her. The bell cutting off study time would ring in just twenty minutes and she was just half way through. Clearing her head she read the line she wanted, thinking on it then writing down on her note book. The cheer squad could be heard from the class and they were not playing, everything about this school was serious and no wonder they were one of the best schools in the country. As much as the kids were spoiled and rich, they were actually really hard workers and she had to pull up her socks if she wanted to even compete. This was all she had at this point, school was her only way out and she would make sure she nailed it.
The bell rang as she jumped, wondering where the time had went. Her hand went pressing on the home button to see that indeed it was past four. She sighed with just a little left so she continued writing, her heart drumming thinking of her bus yet she could not stand up before finishing. The last line was written and she was quick to tear the paper and staple the pages together before picking all her things up and rushing out. She ran through bumping into a lot of people but in too much of a hurry to even say anything. She made her way to the teacher's offices, sliding her assignment under the door only to sigh in relief.
In no time she was taking off, literally running out of the school grounds. Cars filled the parking lot with goodbyes being heard from the students as they got in their parent's cars, driving away. She did not have time to watch in awe as she ran down the street, her feet patting the ground, echoing all over with no other students walking by foot. She ran and took the turn seeing the bus at the station and lord it was about to take off. Greenery made a dash for it, sweat trickling down her forehead, the harsh winds making it impossible to even breathe. Luckily the doors were just closing with her slipping in and rushing to the back where she collapsed. Her chest was moving up and down as she tried catching her breath. She nearly laughed thinking of how she had done it. A storm was coming with the sky grey as the bus took off. The wind picked up as she stared out of the window watching the beauty all around her only to scramble as her phone rang out loud. She shifted not even sure where it was but searched quickly not knowing who was calling her. Was it bad that she wished and hoped it was Bash, her heart drummed as if it would explode with her hands suddenly a bit shaky? She found the vibrating phone, reading the number to find it unknown.
"Hello?"
"Greenery Smith, this is detective Wess." The voice came through the phone as the young girl went as pale as a paper. She clenched the phone so tight with her heart drumming so hard. Silence stretched with the detective waiting for it to sink in.
"I called your father and he gave me your personal number, sorry but it is urgent. Have you told him?" The detective asked with Greenery seeming as if she would faint at that point. She did not know what to say, she had not told her father about the court case. How could she? It would shutter him and he already had a lot to deal with.
"No," She answered honestly, nearly cursing herself for not lying. She knew she had to sit down with her father soon and tell her of what had happened yet her heart ached and she knew she just could not do it."Time is running out Greenery and the court date is nearing. We need your parents' consent to testify and he should have known the minute you were brought to the hospital. You need to tell him, he needs to sign the papers." The detective said as the girl felt the tears well up in her eyes. Her whole body shook as her free hand hugged around her. She opened her mouth only for nothing to come out. They had called her father when they had taken her to the hospital after the incident yet he had not picked up, he was not there when she needed him. Greenery swallowed, blinking the tears away for she would not cry. She was strong and she had been through so much to break down now.
"Okay, I will." Her voice was hallow, a heart in her chest having her nearly clench it. How was life even fair, how could she go through so much, who had she wronged in life? She swallowed again with her head bent down.
"I call with bad news, Richard Junior was just released on bail." The detective said, the words hitting greenery so hard she gasped so loud. The pain and fear hit ten folds as she shook in her seat, shaking so bad with the tears streaming down her face.
"No." It was all she could say, it was all her brain could manage as she felt as if she would die, her heart suffocating her as her hand slipped to her throat which seemed to close with every breath she took.
"No, You promised, you said he would not get out, you said, no," Her mind was failing her as her hand ran through her skull. She knew Richard Junior would come for her, she knew he would kill her and no one would save her. She shook her head thinking of how she should have not spoken up, how she should have kept shut and lied about her injuries.
"I am so sorry Greenery, I don't know how it happened, with the charges he faces he should have not seen the sun ever again but he did get out and I will contact the local police and they will guard your house and school too. Always stay in the house unless you are at school. He cannot come near you."
"He will! You know he will, you promised me." Greenery shot back, heaving as she could not catch her breath, she could feel the eyes on her yet she did not care. Her body was shaking so bad the phone was slipping yet she held on to it. The tears just kept streaming with the fear engulfing her.
She was going to die.
