sorry this ones kinda short!

You hear muffled snoring and occasional readjustment as everyone is sound asleep, spewed about the car. Except you were wide awake, as assumed, because you were the one driving the car.
Final exams had been hitting you all hard this year, so you decided to go on a weekend road trip. Your mom, hesitantly, let you use her minivan to transport everyone from London to Edinburg, which was about a seven and a half hour drive. Lee, Oliver and Fred were in the far back, Angelina and Alicia in the middle, and George was in the passenger seat, all sound asleep. It was pitch black outside, the digital clock read 12:34am, you had left a little bit later than anticipated because Fred and George were busy finishing up some prank on Flitch, causing you to hit the road around 8:30pm with an estimated arrival time of 3:30am. It was Friday night, so you were all upright exhausted from a crazy week of school and exams, no wonder everyone was passed out instead of the usual karaoke and yelling out the windows.
You were playing some soft acoustic type music, in hopes to keep everyone asleep for a couple more hours, and there was practically no one else on the road. The view was quiet beautiful, although you could hardly see, you could make out some distant grassy mountains and plains along the horizon.
You hear some shuffling in the seat next to you, and knowing that George sleeps like a statue, you give his side a poke, causing him to slowly grin.

"Good morning", you say, looking back to the road, "like literally good morning, it's 12:30".

"What? I swear I fell asleep at 10", George exclaims rather loudly.

"George, shhhhh", you say, pointing to the back seats full of your sleeping friends.

"Oh sorry", he replies with a chuckle, "aren't you tired? I can switch with you".

"No I'm fine, just bored that's all, everyones been out for at least 2 hours now", you reply.

"Well good thing I'm here to quell your boredom", he says, grabbing your free hand from your lap.

"Oh great", you murmur with a sarcastic eye roll.

A wave of silence rolls over as George is fidgeting with your fingers and admiring the view out the window, hearing only the faint music from the speakers. A couple minutes pass like this when George breaks the silence,

"What do you think happens after we die y/n?".

"Come again?" You ask, taken aback.

"When we die, what do you think happens?" He asks again.

"Well that's a loaded question", you say, as both of you laugh.

"My mum used to tell me that dead people watch over their loved ones and can see everything they do", he says.

"Well I think that would be more of a curse than a blessing, having to watch your family mourn over you and not even being able to comfort them", you reply, "why are you thinking about this any way?".

"Dunno, just thinking I guess", he says, rubbing his thumb in circles around your interlocked hands.

"Your mind is wild Georgie", you say, looking over to him, slightly mesmerized by his curiosity.

"I know", he replies smiling, kissing your hand.

You look back to the road, as he looks back out the window, continuing to gently caress your hand with his warm fingers. You reach for the volume knob and slightly turn up the music, careful not to wake anyone in the back seats. George leans over to rest his head on your arm, and with a yawn, he slowly dozes back to sleep, the warmth of the music swirling the air, and your rosy cheeks shifting to a smile.
