Welcome back to my insomniac writing but this time it aint coroika
Rather an old fandom I was in and recently returned to: Yugioh Arc-V
And one night I was having a pretty bad dysphoria attack and projected onto my comfort character from that fandom; Yuto, and this headcanon was born.
So this is an AU where they aren't counterparts, rather siblings. Yuri's the oldest, Yuto and Yugo are twins, and Yuya's the youngest. (Yuri is older than Yuto and Yugo by 5 years, and those two are older than Yuya by 4)
So, they ain't identical copies (Though they do look similar) and also I will be using the Japanese names for Ruri and Shun(Lulu and Shay in the English dub)
Also because I like the idea, Yugo and Yuto have a kinda mental link because why tf not

It was around....10? 11? Well, it was late, if Yugo had to guess. The 6 year old just couldn't sleep. And he think he knew why.
In addition to the quiet sobs he heard from his sister's bed, he felt.....Well, he didn't know how to describe it. It felt like plastic. And some sense of shame. He shifted out of the covers, but stayed quiet as not to wake the rest of the house.
"Pssst. Yuta. Are you awake?" Yugo asked, his voice barely able to be heard.
Yuta shakily sat up, and nodded. "Y-yeah.." She said. Yugo could hardly understand her through her sobs.
The blue-and-blonde haired boy slid out of his bed, carrying a fleecy banana-print blanket. "Do you want my blankie?"
Yuta nodded, and Yugo draped it over her shoulders. "T-thank you..."
"You're welcome!" The boy smiled, sitting on the edge of his twin's bed. "What's wrong? I feel weird so do you feel weird?"
Again, she nodded. "I j-j-just... I d-don't t-t-think I'm a g-g-girl..."
Those six words. They changed Yugo's look on Yuta completely. "You're not?"
Yuta shook her head. "N-no...I t-t-think I'm a b-boy.."
"A boy? Okay! You're a boy now!"
"...C-can you n-not tell t-the others, t-though?" Yuta asked.
Yugo nodded excessively. "My lips are sealed! Don't worry Yuta!"
Yuta smiled. 'T-thanks, Y-Yugo."
"Anytime!"

About.... 6 years later, Yugo and Yuta were stuck in homeroom. It was a "Day of Silence" for members of a community neither of them have heard much about, other that Yuri coming out to their parents as something called Bisexual. Whatever that was.
Yuta has absentmindedly playing with a lock of his dyed hair (In an effort to feel a bit more manly, he'd dyed his hair from blue and yellow to black and purple), when he heard the speaker mention something.
"...And it wouldn't be LGBT+ without the T! T stands for Transgender, and umbrella term for those who don't identify as their birth gender, such as MtF, FtM,"
Before the speaker could go on, Yugo shot his head up. "Um, what do those mean?"
The speaker smiled. "Oh, MtF means Male to Female, like someone who was assigned male at birth but identifies as a female, and Female to Male is the opposite of that!"
