"Now, why would you do something like that?"
The girl tilted her head to the side to see the red winged male standing next to her. Her expression didn't change. She didn't really care about the situation she was in. Any other person would freak at the sight of the Number 2 Pro Hero, but her?
She didn't care.
She sparred him a glance. Her orbs were dull, like all life was lost from them. Her features held sadness and as the hero looked at her, it left him with a sick feeling in his stomach. Luckily for him, she looked back out at the distance shortly after. He had never seen someone so drained of life before. It was like she was a sitting corpse that lacked any sign of human life. Just like a zombie.
"Why did you come here, hero?"
He slightly flinched at the sound of her voice. It was lifeless and monotone. It held no emotion and it was almost like he was talking to a doll.
"To save someone." Maybe not the best words in this type of conversation, but what do you say to someone who already thinks life isn't worth living for?
"I don't need saving." He saw her hands grip the side of the stone beneath her as she said this. "My fate is just going to end up the same."
He had never talked someone out of suicide before and he wasn't sure how to do it now. He knew both their lives were different. Her and himself had struggled but, at least he had something to live for.
"Life is worth living. It's a shithole but, it's not always going to be one." He sat on the edge just like her and looked at the girl at the corner of his eyes. She continued to gaze down at the ground below her.
"In my case, it's going to be a 'shithole' until the end."
Hearing that just made the hero wonder how bad of a life she had to want to end it so quickly. Were things bad at home? What about work? Maybe, she isn't doing so well with this whole life thing as of now? How bad does someone's life have to be to make them not want to be here anymore?
"You may think that, but life has more to offer than just difficulties." He wasn't sure if he was helping or not but, he was going to try. If he couldn't get through to her, he can take her to someone who was better at this than he was.
"I don't think it, I know it."
He slightly shifted in his spot. He felt uneasy as if there was something more behind her motives. Something she most definitely couldn't escape from but, he didn't know what it would be.
"Do you know how I know?"
And as if his questions were answered, he turned his head to look over at her. His golden orbs rested on her frame waiting for her answer desperately. Although, he hid what he truly felt.
"I have hanahaki." Her voice was bitter as she said that.
Hanahaki? What was that? Hawks didn't know what that was nor has he ever heard of it. It left the hero in silence and before he could ask what that was, she spoke again.
"Figures that you wouldn't know what it is." She left out a sigh shortly after as if she was tired of thinking about the situation she was in. "Well, it's a very rare disease that most people don't nessicarily get very often." He saw her move her head up and her orbs focused themselves on his frame. Her eyes were dull but he couldn't help but stay looking at her. "It happens when your love is one-sided." When he heard that he couldn't keep his eyes on her any longer and he turned his head the other way. Now he was the one staring at the ground.
"You're right. I've never heard of it before." Was all the hero could say. He couldn't think of anything else. His words wouldn't form like they usually do. For once, something made him speechless.
"Its were you cough up flower petals and it only gets worst overtime until....you die." Her words were bitter at the end and it only pained the hero more. How could he save someone that was already on the brink of death?
"Although, there is a cure." His head perked up at this. Why won't she go through whatever she needs to for the cure? If money was a problem, he would gladly pay for it.
"I can get it removed but.... I'll lose my ability to love." Just like that his heart had sunk again. He doubted she would do something like that. Hell, he wouldn't do something like that. "I'd rather die than lose my ability to love."
He didn't know what to say. He had to think fast but, how is he going to get through to her when her future looks so horrible?
There was a moment of silence that was followed with a sigh. "Well, I suppose it's my time to go."
What should he do?
