Today is his birthday, October 12th.
To the man(and his twin) that inspired this story:
Happy Birthday
*This is an Imagine chapter dedicated to real Theodore and Grayson's birthday*
Madison
"Are you sure it's good?"
"It has to be, I sold a little bit of my soul to be here." Julia looks at the table in front of us.
"At least this time they know you are here." I tell her and we laugh.
We've been planning this for so long, months even, but it's something we both had in mind for a very long time now and we wanted to make it come true. Celebrate Grayson and Theodore's birthday in Tokyo.
For months Julia and I had been hunting for contacts of their friends and studying who was closest to them, Grayson was easier, his co-workers were his friends and they knew most of his closest friends. Now Theodore was a challenge, I had to go through his meticulously organized contact list and try to remember who was who, turns out Theodore didn't have many friends. He had mostly business partners.
Strangely as it might seem, Theodore was involved without even knowing it - I laughed just by the thought - Julia was staying with us and as far as he knew, it was only to surprise Grayson on the 12 of October.
We rented a private room in a small cruise that sailed around Tokyo every day, choosing to organize a dinner party. It wasn't cheap but it included everything, the decoration, the catering even the cake, the crew was phenomenal and all we did was the finishing touches and the payment.
The private dining room had a private deck and a limit of 14 people.
"That cake looks marvelous." Julia stares at it. "To bust my dress."
"Don't be ridiculous, you look amazing." I tell her.
"You too friend." She smiles gracefully. "What's the flavor, again?"
"Passion fruit, their favorite."
Now just wait, Theodore and Grayson were coming in separate cars brought in by different people. We welcomed people with Grayson's personal assistant, who understandably were surprised by our presence. I warned Julia not to be surprised, as we would be the few young people at dinner, remembering so vividly that fateful cocktail night in Shanghai.
As soon as they arrived, the whole room shouted: Surprise!
The expression of joy and surprise mixed with astonishment on the twins' faces was priceless, I couldn't believe she and I had managed to keep it a secret. Almost a year of lies was worth it.
Grayson ran to hug Julia, because only a few hours ago, she had wished him a Happy Birthday saying she wished she was in Tokyo to celebrate with him. He was not shy in front of everyone, going full PDA with her, lifting Jules into the air in a tight hug.
The distinction between them was so clear, but it was Theodore's grace and modesty that I fell in love with. Always holding that sophisticated posture of serenity and excellence.
Theodore, in his usual elegance and distinction from his twin, approached me, wrapping his arm around my lower back, placing a kiss on my temple then meeting my lips.
"This is unbelievable." He murmured low and seductively to me. "You look unbelievable, my dear."
"Happy Birthday." I kissed him.
