Joint Journal: Family

January 31st

It's been a week since Alaster and Alla had arrived in this world. The world of Minecraft. Alaster was just returning home, until he saw in the distance, a tall wooden tower in the middle of a forest. "There...no way." He says to himself, and runs over as fast as he can.

He arrives at the base of the tower, and heard a door open. "Alaster? What are you doing here?" Alla asked as she spotted him immediately.

"I saw the tower, and thought that you couldn't have built this." He says.

"Well I did. Do you...want to come in and see it?" She offered.

"Uh, sure." He accepts her offers, and walks in. "It's huge..." He comments. "How do you get to the top levels?"

"Oh, I made an elevator." Alla tells him.

"An elevator?! How?!"

"It uses redstone and pistons. Just press the button in front of the door, and it pushes you upward to the next level." Alla explains to him, and shows him the circuit she uses behind her house.

"When did you learn how to do this?" Her brother asked her.

"It's really easy once you learn how everything works." She says as if she's done this before.

"You're a redstone expert... Like Mumbo Jumbo, that really old YouTuber." Alaster says.

"There was someone like that? Hm..." Alla grabbed her phone, and opened the YouTube app she had.

"You have wifi too?!"

"Only in my house. Large redstone signals emit internet (not true at all, just for the story), so I'm simply taking advantage of that." Alla explains and watches a Mumbo Jumbo video of old. "Wow, he has so many ideas! Maybe I can copy some of his works..." She mutters.

"How do you charge your phone?! Is that also from redstone?!"

"Yeah. Just place your phone near a redstone circuit, plop down a lever, and it'll charge (again, not a real game mechanic). Why? Did yours die?"

"About a week ago, yeah." He sighs.

Alla giggles from this. "Of course. You know, being such a gamer, I thought you'd know that much."

"I'm just good at PvP, and PvE, not redstone." He tells her.

"What's PvP and PvE?"

Player vs Player and Player vs Everything."

"Oh. So you're a fighter." Alla says.

"Yeah. And I was about to head into a woodland mansion near here. Do you want to come with?" He asked her.

Spending two weeks apart, neither of the siblings felt any resentment towards the other anymore. But since they already built functional households, they stayed in their homes they built. They would take too long to tear down anyway.

"Hm... I think I'll actually go mining. I found three diamonds on my own, and that's it. I have strip mine going, so I don't have to fight any mobs when down there." She says. "I actually haven't slept in two days making that mine."

"That's not good. You probably should get some sleep. Trust me, stay up tonight, and you're in for a little surprise." He tells his sister.

"If you're talking about Phantoms, then, you're absolutely right. I have clock on hand, so I'll be keeping track of time while I'm down there. Good luck with that mansion." She says. "Oh, and here. Maybe you can make uses of this." She hands him a map. "I got it from trading with a Villager. It's an Ocean Explorer Map."

"Oh, sweet! Thanks, Alla. I'll look into when I'm ready. Also, I noticed you have a turtle sanctuary down by your river." He says.

"I do. I read that they're targeted by Zombies and Drowned, so I want to keep some safe. I also read that you can make a helmet from their shells, so I've been collecting them to go look in the ocean myself." She smiled.

"Well, then I also recommend getting a brewing stand and making potions. With your big brain, I have no doubt you'll understand what to do." Alaster says and hands her a long, yellow orange rod. "It's a blaze rod, it's what you need to make a brewing stand. You also need Blaze Powder to make potions. I have tons more Blaze Rods at my place, so just go straight to the east, and you'll find my house." He explains.

"I'll do just that. Thank you." Alla smiled, and exited her home.

Alaster follows suit, and heads down south from Alla's tower to search the Dark Wood forest. Talk about a lucky spawn area.
