Y/N POV
"Who was the guy you were speaking to?"
Akira held eye contact as he asked the question, curiosity burning in his gaze.
"Sorry?" I asked.
"The one sitting next to you on the steps at the reception," he responded.
"Ah," I paused. "I'm not sure."
"You don't know who you were talking to? You were just talking to him??" He questioned, giving me a look of concern and confusion.
"Yeah, I guess so," I nodded.
"I leave for two seconds.." he mumbled under his breath.
"Relax," I laughed. "Neither of us spoke much and he seemed kind."
"If you say so," he responded.
"We should head back soon," I said, looking down at my phone.
We reached for the bill at the same time, our hands colliding as we did so.
"Let me pay for it," Akira calmly demanded.
"With what money?" I joked. "Weren't you complaining about having to buy Jia a $2 cookie this morning?"
He scoffed, taking the check anyway.
"Akira, let me-"
"You know I have money, let me treat you for once," he sternly said, cutting me off. "Just appreciate this moment cause it may never happen again."
I faintly grinned at his statement.
"Thank you."
The words came out low and soft from my lips, it must've caught him off guard since he glanced up at me nervously. He nodded, keeping his eyes away from mine as he paid the bill.
"You should get some rest as soon as we get back," he began. "We'll have to get up early since Jia needed to be there earlier than us."
I nodded, going along with his statement.
He acts so cold, when in reality he cares for us... it'll never get old to me.
