"BAKIT ngayon ka lang?" Tanong na bumungad kay Yesha pagkapasok niya sa kanilang bahay.
"Sorry, mmy. Dinalaw ko lang ko lang si Kate, nasa hospital kasi siya," malumanay, nakayuko niyang sagot.
Yesha was totally exhausted, physically and emotionally. Wala na siyang lakas pa para magkunwaring masaya at okay lang siya.
"And who the hell she is?" taas-kilay kilay nitong tanong.
"Best friend ko po."
"Tsk! Maybe that's what she get after being with you." Nang-iinsulto, patalikod nitong ani.
Yesha smiled faintly. Am I really the reason? Malas ba talaga ako?
Sa bigong kalooban ay pinagpatuloy niya ang pagtungo sa k'warto. Yesha let her self lie down to her bed. She felt too much pain everytime she remembered how miserable Kate is. She never thought that the carefree, jolly and smiley Kate hid something like that. The fear and depression was very obvious on her eyes. But what makes her depressed? Kate has everything. If Yesha were on her shoes, she'll be definitely the most happy and contented girl. What did just happened to Kate. Yesha can't recall any moment that Kate was talking to any problem she had. Could it be possible that she was the reason why Kate got depressed?
Yesha wanted to sleep but when she was about to, she a knock.
She was too lazy to get up, yet she did. Hindi niya inaasahang mabubungaran ang ama. "Dad?"
He cleared his throat. "I just want to ask something."
"Tuloy po kayo," aniya saka niluwagan ang pagkakabukas ng pinto.
Her father went in and sat on her bed. Wala naman kasing iba pang ma-uupoan pa. Her cheeks blushed when her father's eyes roamed around her room. Nahihiya siya sapagkat halos kalahati lang ang laki k'warto niya sa k'warto ng ama.
"Sit here, Yesha." Tinatapik ang tabi.
Pinaglaruan ni Yesha ang kaniyang mga daliri habang dahan-dahang tumungo sa ama. She was so silent, afraid that she'll make any mistakes.
"How's Kate?"
Agad niyang na-i-angat ang tingin sa tanong ng ama. Was he concerned?
"Kilala mo po siya?" Gutat, naguguluhan niyang tanong.
She never remembered introducing Kate to her father, not even to her mother. Tanging si Seah lang ang nakakakilala kay Kate.
He cleared his throat again. "Ahm. yeah. I forgot to tell you. Kate's father is my business partner. I bet you met him already, right? Siya kasi ang may sabi na magkaibigan kayo ng anak niya."
"Ah. Gano'n po ba." peking ngiting aniya.
"Maybe you're wondering why I knew. I was there no'ng sinugod siya sa hospital, para sana e-met ang papa niya."
Yesha sighed heavily. "She's fine now, dad. May konting complications lang po kasi depressed siya, eh."
"Depressed?"
"Yes po. A-are you worried?"
"Of course, I am."
'e, sa akin po? Hindi kayo nag-aalala?' Nais niyang itanong iyon ngunit minabuti na lamang niyang manahimik.
"Alright, I'll go now," ani ng ama, tumayo at tumalikod na.
"Good night, Daddy. I love you..." Lakas-loob niyang sabi. Ngunit isang tango lang kaniyang natanggap.
