Wilbur
The word spread faster than wild fire. Once it got to me from Tommy, I dropped everything I was doing and raced through the forerst, leaves and branches cutting my cheeks as parts of my shirt and jacket got caught and ripped. I felt my lungs starting to burn and my legs acking from how quick I was running. I wasn't going to stop. Not now. I pushed myself to keep going before seeing a clearing a few miles ahead.
"Oh L'manburg, my L'manburg. My love, my life. My story, my stars...please don't leave, please don't burn..." I recited the lines as I raced through the forest, coming to a forceful and abrupt stop as I slammed my boot heels into the ground. Tears had already started streaming their way down my cheeks as I watched my life's work burn to ash. "Oh L'manburg...my L'manburg...my love...my life...my, story...my stars...oh my L'manburg...please don't leave...please don't burn..." I recited one last time, my voice cracking as I fell to my knees, my pant legs being soaked in water from the muddy grass and pond. "Wilbur! Wilbur...we gotta get out of here...we can't just stay and watch...he'll be hunting us down soon enough..." Tommy's voice interrupted my tears before having him kneel next to me, helping me to my feet only to have Tubbo grab my other arm. I felt something come over me, something caught in my throat before I opened my mouth and screamed. "In the madness and soil of that sad unearthly scene! Only then I am human! Only then! I am clean!" My voice broke. I felt like my throat was burning as I held back my coughs only to have them be interfered with more tears and raspy yells. "I know you hear me! I know you can see me, Jonathan Schlatt! You can't keep hiding from the fact there will be a war sooner than you can ever fucking blink!" I screamed before my voice gave out. I felt myself being dragged by Tommy and Tubbo, my heels dragging under me as they pulled me away from the sight of my hardest life's work being burned.
I stood by the campfire we had set up for the night. The fire flickered in my eyes as the wind brushed my hair out of my eyes and whispered against my ear. "We need to start moving at dawn. We can't have anything interfering anymore." I spoke suddenly as I fixed my rifle strap. Tommy looked up at me.
"Well, Tubbo went back to try and find if anyone or anything was le-"
"Nothing is left! It's all gone, Tommy! Schlatt burned it all! You watched as everything went up into flames!" I snapped, seeing the boy's body tense.
He's only seventeen, Will...he shouldn't have to be in this position of the world, especially not with Schlatt.
I thought to myself before letting out a heavy and long sigh, propping my rifle against the nearest tree as I sat next to him. "Listen, you're young. You shouldn't have to deal with any of this at your age. No one should. You know why I just snapped, but I'm sorry for yelling." I say to him. Tommy just nodded, a slight smile reappearing on his face. His smile always made me smile so I couldn't help but do the same. "What's the plan for tomorrow?" He asked me with a small sigh, his body relaxing. "Well, I suggest that we start moving at dawn. We would need to scatter out the burnt wood, feed the leftover food to some animal, eat it ourselves, or save it for the walk in a few hours. Now..." I pulled out a map from my satchel. "If we head west, we should meet with Technoblades part of the land....we should be safe there until-"
"Guys! I have good news and bad news..." Tubbo called, interrupting me as he ran up to me and Tommy. He pulled his beanie from his head and started to play with it a bit. "Go on..." I say as I stand, the blonde male sitting next to me follows my actions. "Well, the bad news is that Schlatt kinda took...everyone, with him...I don't know where they're heading but they're gone now...I think...if they aren't I don't know what they're doing there cause there isn't much to guard. The good news is that three horses were left unharmed...they have ammo on them...and some food I think." Tubbo said as he straightened himself a bit, looking at me. I nodded and grabbed my rifle, putting the strap over my head and shoulder. "Lead the way." I said to him as all three of us walked next to each other cautiously. I held my rifle at ready after a few minutes of walking and becoming paranoid.
