It's October 22nd, the day my mother gave birth to me 21 years ago. I've looked forward to this day for 6 long years! When I was just 15 years old my mother passed away from lung cancer, we held a small funeral with just 20 people attending and all went home, it was a quiet funeral nothing extravagant. That day I wanted to drown my sorrows with all the alcohol in the world, and simply forget whatever had happened between my mother and I. But I have always been ms. goody good girl and never thought about drinking while at that age, so of course I waited. My mother and I had a rocky relationship and I could never really trust her or tell her anything, she always overreacted and would yell 24/7 at me. Things were complicated I guess, but none the less I loved her, only because she was my mother. My father was out of the picture when I was 10, he wasn't keen on the whole being faithful and only with one person thing so, whatever.
I live with my older cousin in a apartment, in South Pasadena. She woke me up this morning with a chocolate cake and loads of long candles. I blew them out after she quietly sang happy birthday to me and gave me a hug. Her birthday was yesterday and I did the same thing for her except her cake was an ice cream cake. She's only 4 years older than I am so we grew up close with each other , which is nice . I get up and put on some clothes to start my day at "Lovely Things" which is a store I work at in old town Pasadena, selling clothes, accessories and shoes.
I've been working as the cashier for about two years since I moved in with my cousin, Amelia. As soon as I was dressed I grabbed my stuff and walked out to my car and drive off to work.*6 hours later*
It's 2 p.m. and I'm off work since it is my big day, tonight is the night which should have taken place 6 years ago, to drown my sorrows. Amelia and I are going to a nice club somewhere in the LA area with a couple of her friends and my best friend, Emily. I'm on my way to pick up Emily and we're going to the mall to try on some dresses and shoes, shopping isn't really my thing but it's my day might as well, right?
I text Emily:
*Hey I'm on my way!!*
*YAS okay be rdy in a few*
*;)*I get to Emily's house 20 mins later and she runs out to my car and gets in. "Hey Ashley! Happy Birthday!!" she hugs me and kisses my cheek,"Eewww haha, thank you!" I hug her back and drive off to the mall, turning up the music listening to Big Sean.
