[AUTHOR'S NOTE]

Hey there! I hope you all enjoyed the prologue, it was pretty long for me to write but it was fun to do so. So as usual. Most stories have fillers that may come off pretty boring before the real plot gets into action. So yeah, this is one of those boring fillers for first chapters. So I hope you guys enjoy this and uhm, get to know the characters more! Oh and one more thing: I remind you that Desslyn swears a lot- it's a bad habit she picked up from Layton. So don't blame her, it's part of her sassy personality. So far her truly awkwardness hasn't fully shown yet, but you'll meet it the next chapter heh. Hope you enjoy this chapter.

Chapter One

Guys

-

I couldn't do this.

Wait no.

I can't do this at all.

As I stared out towards the 'smokin guys standing out on my backyard with Adele and Randy (my foster parents) chatting with each other, someone chuckled behind me.

"Look what we have here," he breathed at the nape of my neck, "Dess is getting her hormones run wild."

I grit my teeth and turned around to glare at Layton, who was giving me a smug look. "Says the guy who knocked up half of the school's population. If I remembered correctly, I caught Dean in your bedroom with his pants down homeboy." I snarled back at him, smirking evily.

His smile dropped. That gets the shit all the time.

Now let's patiently wait for the excuse to be my dog.

"I told you, I swear. Ruffles was the one who pulled his pan-"

He shut up at the sight of my growing smirk. I just loved making him know I think he's gay. Although I did know the truth.

"Well, we all know I'm not gay." he scoffed, rolling his eyes.

"Oh but what if you secretly are?" I raised my eyebrows in mock suspicion.

"At least I'm not well hmm, the one who drooled at me when we first met. And uh three years later? She still drools at me, except now she's drooling at guys in her backyard in the perfect, hot, sun that showes off the outline of their flabby 'abs' and-"

I elbowed him in the chest and he sent me a playful glare. "Oh Desslyn, still so violent. I know you really want to strip all this-", he pointed to his clothing, "-but I'm sorry, you would have to make a reservation for that honey."

"I'm sorry, honey, so you do have a reservation with Dean? Or are you cheating on him?" I said sweetly, getting up close to his face.

He grunted and walked away towards the BBQ pits, flipping me off.

Men. I thought, rolling my eyes for the hundredth time today.

Anyway, back to the point. I couldn't do it. I couldn't manage to bring myself to introduce myself to the guys in my backyard, because apparently Adele and Randy wanted me to get a boyfriend to 'socialize more in hopes that I might just fall in love'. What kind of parents were they? So there they were, eleven 'presentable guys' (according to Adele, I bet Randy was jealous) that they wanted me to be introduced to. I hated to burst their bubble, but I wasn't one to throw myself at guys and put my chest in their faces. They might be 'smokin (ehm, I'm still a girl, I got them hormones), but me falling for them is just impossible. It's as impossible as Zac Efron getting together with the Overly Attached Girlfriend. I can't even- I'm not even ready to deal with the whole love and drama bullshit, but I've been told that love was a supposedly special feeling.
