Stephanie stood patiently as she waited for her request to be accepted. The lady behind the glass window slowly read through the pages, obviously taking her own time.
Stephanie bounced a bit, excited at the fact that she would be walking in her father's footsteps and solving this case. She felt proud, but mostly terrified at the thought of meeting the man who killed 6 kids in his life, and she would only be 4 feet away from him.
Needless to say, she was feeling mixed feelings.
The lady finally gave her the all clear, and gestured for Stephanie to head inside. She nodded in thanks and quickly scrambled inside the heavy duty prison where two guards followed her inside.
The room was brightly lit for an interrogation room and there were far to many different tables. Mainly because it wasn't. In the corner of her eye Stephanie caught a glimpse of a women in a hairnet walk past, holding a tray of raw meat. The stench of beans and mashed potatoes swirled around the room like thick steam.
This is the cafeteria, she said to herself in astonishment. "I'm sorry," she said to one of the guards who followed her in. "I think I'm in the wrong place. I'm supposed to be in an interrogation room."
"We don't have that here," the guard replied. "This is a prison, detective, not a police station. If you want we could put you in the cell with the prisoner if that makes you feel more comfortable."
Stephanie held in her breath at the thought. "No. This should suffice. Can you bring him in?"
"Of course." The guard held up his walkie-talkie. It made a loud beep before he spoke into it gruffly. "Bring the prisoner." It beeped again and he stuck it back on his trousers.
What was just a few minutes felt like hours to Stephanie. She tried picturing how he would look from using various descriptions of him she read on the internet. It might not be accurate seeing as it's been 30 years.
The iron door in front of her unlocked and swung inwards, another guard stepping in. This is it, Stephanie thought, a sudden feeling of excitement coming over her as she craned her neck to see.
And boy, oh boy was she surprised.
Instead of some ancient fossil, the man in front of her was tall, had pointy shoulders, was really skinny and looked to be in his late 20s or early 30s. He had long flat purple hair which was tied into a small pony and matching skin. His white glowing eyes seemed to glow brightly, combating the rooms already intense brightness. The all to perfectly clashing orange jumpsuit bagged at his ankles and wrists.
And his smile. No. Not a smile. A smirk? A grin? Whatever it was it seemed to be plastered to his face almost eternally.
Stephanie stared, baffled.
"Hello detective," the man said. His voice sounded so smooth, like velvet. And was that an accent? "Pleasure to make your acquaintance. My name is William Afton, but I'm sure you already know this."
Stephanie was at a loss for words. She just nodded.
"Would you like to sit?" William asked politely and gestured with his bound hands towards the seat across from him at the steel table. His handcuffs made a noise against each other as he moved his hands.
Stephanie nodded again and sat down. Then he positively glided with his long legs over to sit opposite her. This is insane, she told herself. He hasn't aged...at all! Is he the same guy? His hair seems so soft though, how?
She seemed to be lost in her thoughts.
William watched her curiously and then spoke up. "I'm sorry detective, but you seem to be drooling," he said.
