Against The Pull

"What?" The Archduke growled. His fangs slowly appearing, his crimson eyes becoming darker, and his chest getting heavier. He had never received such praise, it's so new that he felt like being fooled. But then he immediately controlled himself when he saw the little girl flinched, he's staring too much that the girl looked away.

The Archduke smirked, his features getting back to its normal figure, "Are you blind? Gino-goodtime mo ba ako? Huwag kang mag-alala, hindi kita sasaktan. You don't need to lie just to make me feel good."

Celestial stared at him once again, siya naman itong nag-iwas ng tingin. "I am not lying, your highness."

Ano ba'ng mayroon sa batang ito? Ano ba'ng nakain nito? The guts she have to speak something like that in front of him, doesn't she have any idea of the impact her words were making to him? Ah, she doesn't. She's the most impeccable demoiselle he have ever met.

"How old are you?" He asked.

Napayuko ang bata, animo'y nahihiya, "I-I really look small for my age but I am twelve,"

The Archduke flinched away, "Too young, too innocent. You still don't know the world, little girl. You still have no idea what does this red eyes do, and what does this horns stands for." He said not only referring to himself but to other demons in the Abyss, "Don't talk to strangers, especially to people with horns like mine. Stay away from everyone whose eyes turns red. That is a free warning, demons are never good. They just get on the mood, be grateful I woke up on the right side of the bed."

He stood up as if the small branch of the tree was nothing. Ginaya naman siya ni Celestial na halos magkandaugaga kakatayo sa taas ng puno.

He climbed off the tree and get back to his past position in front of Celestial to speak again, "And don't talk to a royal like that, never talk back to me. Remember that."

Realizing a thing, little Celestial's voice louden in shock, "What have you done to my...!"

With pride, yonder ego and authority, the Archduke raised his voice, "I've told you not to speak so formal to me! We own this almost entire land that's why my father is an Emperor, my mother is an Empress and I am the Archduke. And we are the rulers of all deeps and abysses, that's why we're the Sovereign Royals. My father is a King, my mother is a Queen, and I am the Prince of the Main Abyss! And you're a mere human in Peakbrook so you don't even have the little right to speak to me!"

Celestial was totally speechless. She doesn't have any words to say. Gusto niyang maluha habang nakatingin sa ibaba. Durog na ang prutas na gusto niyang makuha, dinurog iyon ng Archduke. Napakurap-kurap siya at muling tumitig sa Archduke na nag-aakalang pinapakinggan niya. Ni hindi nga naintindihan ni Celestial ang ilan sa mga sinabi nito, ang tuon niya'y sa durog na prutas na gagawin niya sanang medisina.

Celestial's irritation rose up. She don't mind if he's the archduke of the Abyss, she wants the Kauma fruit but he gripped it into pieces! Ganoon na lamang niya kaagresibong inabot ang Archduke na napamura dahil sa kaniyang paghablot. She do not fear him, she doesn't understand either but she fears no one.

"W-what the fuck are you doing? Let go or I'll chop you like a fresh meat!"

She gritted her teeth and pounced to his direction, "Give me back my Kauma fruit!"

The Archduke cursed in annoyance, shock and suddenly fright of falling together with the child, "Stop it! Fuck, we are about to fall!"

But Celestial doesn't care. She became reckless all of a sudden, an attitude she never thought she have. Being impulsive all of a sudden. She grabbed the Archduke's collar and grip it to her face. His face heated up with the sudden contact, no one has ever touched him like that!

"Fuck!"

The Archduke's eyes widened as he felt himself step on nothingness. The little girl is still gripping his collar making him unable to break free. He tried gripping more branches and hanging strands of the Kauma tree but he failed. The little girl's eyes widened in shock and fear, her mind went blank. But his mind immediately roused to an idea he never thought he could apply.

He embraced the back of her head and buried her face on his neck while his other hand gripped her waist to control their movement. There was no yell of fear from the little girl nor hint of annoyance when he embraced her, she let him do everything, she trusted him to save the both of them from falling.

The Archduke's eyes turned black while his crimson iris remained. His fangs grew that instant hitting his lower lip, his nails sharpened and are now long abiding his aggressiveness. He tried awakening an ability that were specified by the Tylers. He couldn't awaken that ability, and now's the time to force it because he's about to save a girl.

He arched his back, feeling an intense pain as if something's growing from behind, it is a four elongated digits of the forelimb covered by a cutaneous membrane. His mighty wings! After feeling his wings, he forced to oppose the pull of gravity triggering the inertia.

And when he opened his eyes, he was already meters away from the ground with the girl in his arms. He sighed as his chest thumped louder and faster, he flew away from the surface back to the carriage. Their parents were now probably looking or waiting for them, they should head back.

He chuckled, yes, he chuckled watching the girl still gripping him and hiding in his chest, "Open your eyes, hindi ka na mahuhulog."

Agad namang tumalima si Celestial, unang bumagsak ang mga mata nito sa kaniyang mga mata. They stared for a couple of seconds before they released each gazes away. Mas lalong humigpit ang pagkakahawak ni Celestial sa Archduke nang mapagtantong nasa ere sila.

The Archduke laughed this time. "So innocent."
